ALLURA HAD BEEN WITHOUT THE Winter Soldier for two months. Honestly, it was all going down better than she thought it would.
She was living in Washington. She didn't have much. She had water ( for showers, since she actually drank hydrogen), clothes, a nice job and was adjusting to the machine she had created with the oxygen bracelets HYDRA always had her with.
She found a way to make small hydrogen tubes that last about two days and she could hide them in her clothes easily, wearing them as bracelets for the rest of the world to see. The only problem was, that to have the cables she always had to wear long sleeved shirts and clothes. But with time, she got used to it.
The first week in Washington had been hard, the strawberry blonde discovering things that HYDRA had kept from her.
She had abilities.
Like actual abilities. She could move things with her mind, had laser eyes, she could fly, she could create oxygen and she had a piercing scream that broke furniture easily. She was confused at first, not understanding why all of that was coming out until now. It could've helped her with the missions HYDRA made them do.
Oh, the missions.
She could remember parts of them. The screams of the innocent, the sound of bullets ricocheting hitting her ears as memories came back to her, the sound skin against fist, the feeling of flesh against knives.
Screams because of the torture she put people through. The bullets from her weapon.
Against her fist.
Against her knife.
It didn't allow her to sleep, think, work, and sometimes not even to breathe.
Panic attacks were constant, and guilt she didn't even believe existed hit her 24/7. She had days were she wished she was just a brainwashed assassin, ready to get everything she had done out of her head.
But not out of her consciousness. Never out of her consciousness.
Either way, she managed to find a small job that she was content with. The asset was working in a small, cheap restaurant down the street. She'd mop and broom the floors for eight hours a day and then go back home with a small amount of money for light and water, since she didn't need any food for reasons she didn't understand.
The strawberry blonde walked down the street, her hair in a bun with a few strands on her face. She was wearing grey pants, black sneakers, a long sleeved orange t shirt and a red jacket over it. Her face was clear of make up, and she had a calm demeanor on the outside, even though she was uptight in the inside.
Her green eyes were cautious as she made sure no one was following her, her lips pursed as her pace remained steady. She was breathing hard, a feeling in her gut telling her that something was gonna go wrong.
She should've listened.
An arm locked itself around her throat, the martian gasping and elbowing the person on the ribs. She turned around and kicked his face, quickly doing a roundhouse kick and striking him on the head. She sent a punch to his stomach, then one to his throat and kicked him on the chest to send him back.
She was panting, her eyes going red for a second before returning to their normal green. She knew that wasn't it. Just one man? That was illogical.
The Alien was proven right when men with guns started attacking her, bullets going her way that she easily dodged. The strawberry blonde had tried to move the bullets with her fingers, only to discover that she couldn't control things that were already in motion. So, skillfully, she moved the men's feet of the ground and made him trip, her laser eyes hitting men as she struggled to find control over an ability she once used so well.
