THE ALIEN STOOD NEXT TO the Winter Soldier, both of them on the top of the mountain they had been on for two days. They were trying to find the men HYDRA wanted gone, so far not a soul appearing.
The female sighed, her green eyes scanning the environment as the soldier tried finding footprints on the snow, his eyes focused as he stared at nothing but his mission—apart from the now and then glances the assets would exchange.
"Anything?" She asked in English, not knowing if the soldier spoke anything else. He shook his head, understanding her perfectly but not bothering to respond. She jumped to a smaller snow mountain, feeling the soldier's eyes on her back as she smirked slightly. "Found them." The Soldier looked at her, going next to her and scanning the medium sized footprints.
"Good." He said, following them along with the other asset. The girl couldn't help but notice the small shivers on his arms, most likely because of the cold. The Alien felt cold too, the sensation coming off as weird for a reason she couldn't comprehend.
The two went with the tracks, the wind blowing and the silence overwhelming. Her strawberry blonde hair was being pushed back by the air, the thick layers of red strands looking vibrant in comparison to the pale white snow.
The tension between the two was obvious, neither remembering a thing about the other as they advanced kilometers and kilometers of frozen H2O, Allura's skin beginning to get irritated and red at the excess of it.
Eventually nightfall came, the only light coming from the astounding full moon that shone on them, the strawberry blonde staring at it and biting her lip, the Soldier looking at her in confusion to why she had stopped walking.
They had a problem in their hands, and Allura knew it. They wouldn't be able to continue walking because no matter how great their trained sight was, the lack of illumination would be fatal. But, if they stopped now and a storm hit, their lead would completely vanish—putting them back in the useless pile.
"We have to stay he-"
"We can't. We might lose the footprints."
"We might get lost if we can't see where we are going or what we are following. Simple logic. Survival logic." She deadpanned, the Winter Soldier looking thoughtful as he almost rolled his eyes, walking towards a cave and the two going inside. "Can you make fire with your arm?" The Winter Soldier didn't reply, placing his metal arm against the rock and creating a small flame with the rocks Allura had put together.
"If we lose our mission, we'll get punished." He said simply, the Alien nodding and sitting down agains the wall, her green eyes holding the fire in them as she looked at it.
It was something she didn't remember seeing before, not at such close distance. Which was sad, because back home she used to fly on top of burning hydrogen lakes in laughter while carrying a scared Ezekyel.
"Have you ever wondered why we can't remember anything?" She dared ask, her eyes meeting his as he only shrugged, leaning more against the rock wall.
"No. I don't think it's a good idea to ask." He replied, his voice rough as he placed his flesh hand near the fire to warm it up. Allura sighed, hitting the back of her head against the wall once in exasperation.
