As the trail of scarlet light widened and enveloped around Aviva, she panicked. Shivering, she closed her eyes as her body turned into a whiff of black smoke and flew along with the light. Five heartbeats later, when she landed, she sighed in relief.

"Do you enjoy the views inside?" Smirking, Ice Man twirled the crystalline black orb with a finger.

Aviva tilted her head as she studied the figure in front of her. Hmm, imbecile man, he must've believed that the Pokeball offers great scenery of sheer blackness. Despite his stout physique and seemingly branded attire, his cocky face made him look amusing and somehow pathetic. Aviva wanted to bombard him with the amazing things she had just witnessed but as her eyes scanned through the thickets of coconut trees, a tinge of unease crept into her veins.

"Where am I?" she asked; her voice was muffled by the splashing of waves against the yacht.

Ice Man sniggered as he sat on a boulder in the middle of the beach. "We've arrived, Silly Girl."

"Arrived? Where?" Aviva studied the surroundings again. Waves. Beach. Dirty plastic bags. Coconut trees. She gasped as a realization struck her. "Salton Shore?"

Ice Man didn't reply to her; which she took as a sign of agreement. Questions popped out here and there in her mind but she shoved them away. The fragile Alolan Vulpix was still waiting for her. It would make her an irresponsible Pokemon Protector if she left the Pokemon alone.

Quickly, she levitated through the air and grabbed the collars of Ice Man's coat. Her action startled him and that pleased her. "Send me back in there. I need to bring my friend out."

"Friend? You mean there's more than one Pokemon living in a Pokeball?" Ice Man's black eyes lit up with curiosity.

"Stop wasting time!" Aviva's voice became serious. "I'll tell you everything once I bring it out."

"Fine!" Ice Man faced the Pokeball at Aviva's direction. With his brows locked, he said, "Return!"

Aviva felt less agitated as her body turned to a whiff of smoke again. Alolan Vulpix's cerulean eyes shone with happiness as it saw Aviva. It let out a bark before jumping into Aviva's embrace.

Aviva laughed as she stroked the Pokemon's head. "I was worried about you living alone in the wild. Would you like to join me? We can learn about the Evolutionary Stone along the journey."

The fox-like Pokemon nodded and flashed Aviva with the sweetest grin she had ever seen.

After hugging Alolan Vulpix tighter, Aviva shouted to the air. "Bring me out!"

Aviva had begun to get accustomed to this mode. In fact, she found the experience thrilling now. Ice Man's haughty expression morphed to pure disbelief as he saw the white, fluffy Pokemon. As promised, Aviva told him everything that she'd encountered in the Pokeball just now.

Once she'd finished, she asked, "I've fulfilled my promise. Now, tell me, where are my friends?" She needed to find them and departed to the Pokemon Gym nearby.

"Why do you still want to look for them? They abandoned you." Ice Man's voice, surprisingly, laced with sympathy and guilt. "You can tell me about your mission and I'm willing to help you."

"I know them better than you do." Aviva steeled herself but she still failed to hide her anxiety.

Unwillingly, Ice Man pointed to his left. "They camp there. Behind those boulders. Just don't come back crying like a baby. I won't comfort you."

"Don't worry. You won't even have a chance to do that."

Aviva waved him a hasty good-bye as she wafted through the night sky with Alolan Vulpix. She thought of jumping behind her comrades to surprise them but what if... what if what Ice Man said were true? What if they didn't want her back to the group? Her shoulders slumped as she hid behind the boulders. In front of her, Gloom, Pikachu, Charmander, and Totodile were sleeping huddled together on a blanket. Susie the Lapras nestled on the beach not far away.
