Emma's POV:

"Lance, I told you she didn't see me. I ran off."

"Okay... Okay... I believe you. What is up with you? You haven't had a hard time with blood in years, and I mean reaching almost the hundreds." I quickly snapped angrily out of frustration.

"I know this! I don't know what it is about her. She's intoxicating. Her smell gets me so fucking high. I don't know why I can't fully control myself. I was never like this with Adeline." I hated myself for that. I didn't want to ever lose control with her. I never wanted to hurt her.

"I think you need to take a while and get out of here. Get your head on straight. Sports are starting soon, and I want to make sure you don't lose control if someone else bleeds out on the court." I hated that he was right, but he was. I needed to getaway. I needed to gain more self-control. I knew just where I needed to go too.

Mila's POV:

It was going on almost a month that she hadn't been at school. I asked Chloe where she was, but all she told me was a family emergency out of town that she needed to be at. She never said bye or anything. I hated that. I hated even more that I missed her. I walked into the fourth period, and omg, she was there. Wow, she looked so gorgeous! She smiled at me. I couldn't help but smile back. I brought her into a hug, I think I caught her off guard, but she quickly hugged me back.

"Where have you been?" I pulled out of the embrace as I sat down in the chair beside her.

"We had a death in the family. So I had to go and help plan the funeral."

"I'm so sorry for your loss, Em... Who was it?"

"Just an old distant cousin of mine. We weren't super close, but I'm the best planner in the family, and he had requested me to plan his funeral in his will." She smiled, making me feel a little less sad.

"I can't believe you didn't tell me goodbye, or You know... text me back..." I said half-heartedly, upset with a smile still on my face.

"I'm sorry. It was the last minute, and cell reception was horrible. I missed you, though."

"You missed me?" I couldn't believe she said that.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I? You're my friend, remember?" Oh yeah... Friend. Come on, Mila, snap out of it. She isn't gay.

"Well... I missed you too." She told me all about her cousin's funeral and the mountains she saw while she was there. Apparently, he had lived up in the mountains. We discussed our project and decided on meeting up on Friday after school and Saturday. This was going to be my first sleepover... I was freaking out.

The rest of the week dragged on. It was nice having Emma back; she even started eating lunch with us. So here we are, the last few minutes before the bell rings, and then Emma is coming over. I was so nervous yet so excited. After our after-school activities, Chloe, Emma, and I made our way out to the parking lot.

"I'll see you in like 30 minutes."

"Alright, I'll see you then, Emma. Bye, Chloe."

I was home soon with about 15 minutes to get ready before Emma got her. I was frantically cleaning up my room and making sure we had snacks.

"Calm down, Mija."

"I know, mom. It's... It's just my first sleepover."

"I know, Mija, everything will be just fine." She kissed my cheek as she finished up dinner, and that's when I heard the doorbell ring. Oh my... I was about to run to the door, but then I slowed down. I took a deep breath before opening the door.
