Hi, my name is Rose Addington, I am currently a lawyer at Glenn and sons, one of the most successful law firm in the whole of London. When I look back on my life, I still can't come around the idea I left Cambridge law only two years ago and that I am now a junior partner at Glenn and sons.
I sat at my desk when I heard a knock on my door.
"Yeah, come in" I say, looking up from my computer on which I was typing my report of the Mahoney case.
It was June, my assistant. She was tall, quite thin and had long blonde hair that fell in regular waves past her shoulders. Her facial features were so regular, you would have thought for a second that an angel had come into the room.
"Rose, the boss is calling you. He told me that it was strictly confidential but that you were to come to his office right now." She told me with her clear voice.
"Alright, strange, normally Mr. Glenn always tells me why I am asked to come to his office." I say, closing my portable computer and unplugging it from its charging station.
I closed the door to my office and smiled at my assistant who had already gone back to work at her desk, just in front of the glass door of my office.
I walked up to the elevator and pressed the up button, after a few instants, a slight ding told me that the elevator was there, the doors opened and I went inside the cabin. I pressed the 8th floor button and a few seconds later, the elevator was going up.
Once I arrived at the 8th floor, the elevator dinged again and I got off of it.
She walked in an elegant foyer where a desk with two secretaries were.
"Hey, he called me up, strictly confidential..." She told them pointing at the door at the end of the corridor.
"They're waiting for you, go straight in..." one of them said with a small smile.
I opened the door and walked into the office.
The first thing I saw was that there was another person sitting in front of Mr. Glenn. From where I was standing, I could only see his semi-short white hair. That's when Mr. Glenn saw me.
"Ah, Rose, here you are. Come now, I would like you to meet your new client." He told me, a large smile spread across his face.
The new client had stood up and had turned around. I froze as I recognized the person in front of me.
"Mr. Rickman, may I present you the best junior partner here at Glenn and sons, Miss Rose Addington. I think that you'll find she is the perfect lawyer to help you with your case."
Now, I should tell you why I froze when I saw him.
1. I have admired him since I was a child
2. I have fantasized about him a lot
3. His voice is a sin, I mean who wouldn't fall for that voice
4. I am what you may call a Rickmaniac
I know, cliché, the girl's fangirling about some sexy celebrity and she gets to work with him, right...
Before I had the time to do anything else, Mr. Rickman was advancing towards me and took my hand. As soon as his fingers came in contact with my hand, I felt a sharp zap going straight to my heart. I gasped slightly as he brought my hand to his lips and kissed the top of it.
"A pleasure Miss Addington..." he said, letting my hand go.
"The... the... pleasure's all mine, Mr. Rickman" I answered truthfully, stuttering a little.
"Oh, you don't have to call me Mr. Rickman, you can call me Alan."
"Well you can call me Rose then, Alan." I said with a large smile.
"Hmm hmm" Mr. Glenn coughed to make us come back to the matter at hand. "Take a seat Rose, as you have noticed, Mr. Rickman has come to us to ask for our help. Of course, what is said and done in this office is and will stay completely confidential. Now. If you could explain to us your problem Mr. Rickman..." Mr. Glenn said, installing himself in his seat comfortably.
"Well, as you might both know, I was during a long time with Rima Horton who unfortunately passed away ten years ago. I then met Alix Relbon, who is now Alix Rickman. I caught her in bed with my best friend, Victor Bellamy. That was two weeks ago. I was so angry I slapped her before throwing her out of our house. The problem is that for the night where she was kicked out of our house, I kept Jane and Sacha, my daughter and son, with me.
She just served me, via her lawyers the divorce papers and she want full custody of the kids. She wants to take my two-year-old and my five-month-old away from me. You have got to help me. I want to see them grow up, I want them to call me daddy, not Victor." He said, with sadness in his eyes.
"I am so sorry to hear that Mr. Ri- Alan, and believe me, I'll do whatever is in my power to help you and have custody of your children. But I have to be totally honest with you, the fact that you slapped her when she cheated on you and that you kicked her out of your house without letting her the option of staying, was it only for your children, is not good for your case." I told him.
"But she's the one who cheated on me, she's the one who split our family apart by sleeping with Victor. I couldn't just stand there and encourage her, could I?"
"I know it seems unjust, but if the trial was to be today, she could win. For the moment, we need to speak about the divorce, have you brought the papers with you?" I asked.
"Yes, I have them right there with me." He said, looking inside a leather bag that was set in front of him.
He got a file out of the bag and handed it to me, I opened it and looked at the divorce papers he had been served with.
What a bitch I told myself, or so I thought because I saw Mr. Glenn's eyes widen to the rough size of two ping pong balls.
"I am so so sorry Alan, it's just that she's asking a lot from you. I mean, she doesn't content herself with just the children's complete custody. She also wants half of what you both own and 4 000£ a month to take care of your children." I apologise, summing up what was in the divorce contract.
"I know, that's why you are here to help me get my children's custody. I am ready to share custody with her if she wants, but I don't want Victor to have any role in their lives." He tells me.
I am very surprised, even though his wife cheated on him, and wants to take his children from him, he doesn't seem to want them not to have their mother with them.
"Alan, I am sure we're going to find a solution so that you'll still see your children. I promise you I'll do whatever is needed for you to still be there for them."
"Thanks a lot Rose..." he tells me, rising from his chair.
"It is I that is thanking you, here is my phone number, if anything comes up, anything at all, you can call me any time, day or night."
"Thank you Rose. Mr. Glenn, thank you too." He says, taking my hand and placing a light kiss on the top of it before shaking Mr. Glenn's hand.
And they say that chivalry is dead. I say to myself.
Once again Mr. Glenn's eyes went wide and I realized I had once again spoken aloud.
Alan chuckled and I swear to god I never heard a sound so enticing.
"With me, never, Rose." He says before exiting through the door.
