Alan's POV
I rushed towards the gurney and immediately recognised Rose. She was hooked up to a heart monitor which showed her heart rhythm, beeping steadily as she was wheeled to the ambulance. I ran a short distance behind the medics who were wheeling her into the ambulance, as they secured her into the vehicle I asked if I could come.
"I'm sorry Mr. Rickman, only family..." the medic began to say before being interrupted by one of his colleagues.
"We're losing her. Crash cart. Charge to two hundred. Clear..." I felt as though my own heart had stopped when I heard that. I couldn't lose her, she was my life and I couldn't imagine it without her. In a little over a month, she had taken such an important place in my heart and my life and I hadn't realised.
"Please Rose, come back to me... I love you so much, come back to me." I begged her from the pavement where I was still standing.
"We've got a pulse." The medic said and I released my breath. "Come on Mr. Rickman. You can ride along with her." He said, helping me inside the ambulance before buckling me into a seat that was close enough to Rose for me to stroke her hair.
As we rode towards the nearest hospital, I called Emma and told her what had happened. She immediately told me she would stay at home with Jane if I wanted. I thanked her and promised to keep her updated on the situation.
Shortly after having hung up, I got a call from an unknown number. It was the police; they had collected Sacha at Alix's place and he needed to be picked up. I explained the situation to them, telling them that a friend was home taking care of my daughter. They proposed me to drop him off and I accepted. I gave another call to Emma and she wholeheartedly agreed to take care of the both of them for the time being. I thanked her once again and hung up.
The medics had hooked up Rose to all kinds of tubes and devices when she lightly opened her eyes.
Rose's POV
Everything around me felt numb. I could hear faint voices speaking around me but could not exactly understand what they were saying. Suddenly a familiar voice rang, it was Alan. Alan was there by my sides. I tried to move but immediately found out I couldn't. I fought to open my eyes but when I managed, I saw Alan's concerned face light up.
"Rose, you're finally awake. Don't move, I'm there my love. Everything is fine now. Rest for the moment, I love you." He said tearing up.
"I... love... you... too." I managed to rasp before falling back into the darkness.
Alan's POV
Just hearing her voice reassured me, and the words she had said made my heart swell with something I had never felt before. It was a mixture of pain and relief. Pain because she clearly wasn't out of the woods, but relief because now Alix would never be able to come again for us.
A few instants later we were at the hospital. A paramedic told me to stay inside while they unloaded her and would come to help me afterward. They didn't need to perform surgery on her but would keep her in the Intensive Care Unit. I would be able to stay with her once they had installed her in her private room.
An hour later, Rose was installed into a very cosy room. She had been hooked up on different machines. Her breathing was steady and her heartbeat as regular as possible. Suddenly a man in a white doctor blouse came in the room. He was followed by a younger man and woman with large clipboards in their hands.
"Hello Mr. Rickman, I am doctor Lewis. I am Miss Addington's doctor. I wanted to talk to her family about her condition if possible." He explained looking a little embarrassed.
"I don't have anyone." Rose's voice murmured. "You can tell him everything, and if there is any decision to be made. He can do so." She breathed out, wincing a little.
"Shh, shh... darling don't tire yourself, my love. We've got you; no one will hurt you anymore." I said, taking her right hand in my own and kissing them.
"I think you might want to learn this news on your own Miss Addington..." Dr. Lewis said looking at her. She nodded no and squeezed my hand ever so slightly. "Miss Addington, everything seems alright with you. You will be released tomorrow if your exams are ok, the sole problem seems that you're with child."
Rose's POV
I was completely taken aback. I was taking the pill; how could I be pregnant. How would I take care of a child? Alan might not want any more children or be tied to me for that matter. I began to cry without realising it at first.
"Love, Rose. Stop crying, everything is going to be all right, I'll be there for you and our child if you want me. You won't be alone whatever choice you make; I will be there by your side and help you. Please dry your tears, my love. I hate to see you sad." He told me, wiping my tears off of my cheeks.
"I love you so much Alan, thank you for being there for me. I don't deserve all your kindness." I whispered; I could feel a little force coming back to me. I had something to fight for and I would take care of my child.
Without having noticed, Alan had leaned into me and pressed his lips against him. I responded quickly, cupping his cheek with my left hand where an IV had been installed.
"Rest for now my love. I love you, both of you." He said, resting his hand on my belly shortly.
Alan's POV
I was a little shook by the revelation but as I knew Rose had been on the pill, it meant that it was the fate that wanted us to have a child at that moment. I would be there for her and our child. I knew that I already loved the little being growing in her belly.
"I'll let you rest for the night." The doctor said before leaving the room along with his interns.
I settled into the chair next to Rose and took her hand in my own. I texted Emma the update telling her she would be released, only leaving her pregnancy out and thanking her again for her help with the children.
