As the dark figure approached, it became evident that it was Emma. She tried to reach out to Alice but Mike blocked her ardently and put Alice in the Berline then closed the door behind.
He turned around and gently told Emma to fuck off from his precious heir and to walk the path of pathetic betrayer alone. She was to forget everything that had ever happened between her and Alice since the beginning.
Emma replied, "Who are you to talk for her? She is my best friend after all."
Mike replied, "She has ceased to be your best friend, the very first time her ex boyfriend entered your womb. You want to know who I am; I'm the worst nightmare of all those who want to hurt Alice in any way imaginable. So please, if what you had in the past actually meant something to you, even if it was for a split second of your miserable life, go away and don't ever try to come back. You're free to be with your newly earned boyfriend. Goodbye."
On this note, Mike entered the car and sat next to Alice. She smiled at him and he responded with a gentle caress on her cheek while the uber drove away in the frosty night of Paris.
Alice momentarily looked back and saw Emma on her knees, in the middle of the street. Her eyes became filled with water as she saw her ex best friend laid there, alone.
"Don't be sad em. I want to comfort her. I need to comfort her." This phrased resonated within herself but she knew that it wasn't possible anymore.
Alice looked at her reflection in the tinted glass. Tears streamed down her cheeks while she begged herself to hold on. "That is truly painful." She grieved.
While she grieved, Mike stared at her, perceiving the torture she was going through.
He knew it was no simple issue pointed out by the atrocious aches he felt in his stomach. It broke him even more to see Alice in this state. He swore to make this date memorable, perhaps it might take away from her sorrows.
After sometimes, Alice broke out of her silence and commented, "I could have handled it, you know? I'm used to this kind of situation."
Mike was weirded out with her response. He enquired with concern, "What do you mean?"
"All my life, I have been... I've been struggling. Since the day I lost both my parents then followed by my back bone*. All my life, I've been fighting. Never felt a feeling of comfort, all this time I've been hiding. And I never had someone to call my own, oh no, I'm so used to sharing. Love only left me alone but I'm at one with the silence."
Mike felt his heart pounded until he was able to hear Alice heavy breathing. Suddenly he felt a warm trail on his left cheek then a dropped on his pants. When he looked down, he perceived that a droplet of tear had splashed over his left thigh.
He quickly grabbed the tissue box and discreetly wiped his eyes, "The last thing needed here is a man crying." He told himself.
When he was finally satisfied with the level of testosterone in his body, he tried to reach for Alice's hand but was stopped inches away by her lyrical exclamation. The words that followed shattered the residual manliness within himself.
Alice exclaimed, "I'm in need of a savior, but I'm not asking for favors. My whole life I've felt like a burden, I think too much and I hate it. I'm so used to be in the wrong, I'm tired of caring. Loving never gave me a home, so I'll sit here in the silence."
