Even though Alice was attending the library almost daily for the sake of her research, the other girl's intention was not so pure.

In fact, a majority of them didn't attend religiously just to drool over fictitious characters. Rather, it was to admire the 5 new interns that the campus had hired.

As soon as they were in job, there coming became the main subject of turmoil inside the wall of those old musky corridors.

The institution had been lacking idea on how to make the girls more inclined to literature. At last resort, they appointed 5 mannequins as library administrators for the whole semester.

Since the latter entered the college yards, the library hit a historically high number of daily visits.

It was beautiful to see all those young girls being subject to reading but it somehow disturbed the tranquility that Alice had found in the compound of the library.

Being constantly present since day one in the library. Alice soon became best friends with the 5 mannequins.
The fact that she found no interest in them made her the object of their attention and also the perfect school best friends for the boys.

They would spend enormous amount of time exploring books and literature together. And most of the time, Alice would cover up their lack of knowledge about the books.

Nevertheless, the bad still remains untouched. She found 5 new best friends but still no tranquility inside the library's premises.

So, the administrators gave her access to the restricted area of the 4th floor. She was the only one allowed to go there as it was the yard of experts and scientists.

As from that day, each time she went to the library, she would retreat back to the 4th floor. This floor was soundproof, which was perfect for her sensible ear.

As Emma would always accompany her, she got to enter the room too. Inside was disposed, very beautiful and rare object along with very fragile ruins.

Alice had to scold Emma constantly about not touching anything or to wear a mask when entering the room. She was used to this room but Emma was definitely not welcome there.

On the other hand, the institution had played their cards very ingeniously.

They took this opportunity to plaster their new administrators all over the campus.

They even dressed the mannequins in sexy clothes and made them flex in borderline poses along with the line 'I am waiting for you at the library, come quickly' on all the billboards.

Happily, it was a private school. Else the backlashes of this campaign would have stimulated much attention.

Their attempt was obviously very successful even though it was low-key sexist.

Usually, Alice and Emma would go for a little coffee date then watched the sunset at the Champ de Mars garden.

Occasionally, Jazz would show up to pick Alice then go for a romantic walk along la Seine. They would stop at their favorite spot then cuddle in front of the Eiffel Tower. It was the highlights of her week.

On one particular occasion, Alice was alone, she had the whole afternoon to herself.

Emma was ill and Jazz was busy with some practical work.

It is very unusual for him to be invested in this kind of work. He had never taken any interest in practical work before. Generally, he would do anything to become the team leader and delegate all the manual tasks to the most influenced members of his group.

This is weird or maybe he is just growing up and maturing. What are you up to my little jazz!

He liked to call them the beta people. And of course he would play the alpha male.
Nevertheless, Alice knew about his sensibility thus didn't care about his bogus masculine superiority complex.

Being the perfect girlfriend, Alice didn't interfere too much in Jazz's life.
She knew the value of alone time and peace of mind. There was no need to be an overly attached girlfriend.

She was not in the mood to go to the library so she decided to pay a little visit to her man.

She wanted to be of some help to her lover. Even if she wasn't very good in his field of work, she could at least lend her emotional support to Jazz.

She took an Uber and went to his apartment. She was excited and ready to help. Nevertheless, something picked up her attention in front of the building.

Emma's scooter was parked in front of the tower. It was very unique due to the pink flakes and bling bling number plate on it.

What is Emma's bike doing here? She lived on the opposite side of the city. There is no reason for her to be here either, as far as I know she isn't very fond of Jazz nor is jazz very at ease with her around. Hmm, that is very bizarre.

Wait, it can't be Emma. She is ill. When I talked to her this morning, she wasn't even able to align two phrases without suffocating. Oh, how stupid am I? It’s most probably Emma's brother; Lucas. Wow, he is very fearless to drive such a sparkly vehicle.

When she entered the sculpted wooden door giving to the indoor garden, she saw Emma's pink helmet hanging on a crook near the valet's office.
Alice immediately thoughts that Emma's parent could have taken her helmet, maybe they had some family here.

Even though the latter had never mentioned anything about it before.

Maybe that's why Emma and Jazz hated each other so much. If the two had been fighting in my presence like if they were siblings, maybe it is because they lived in the same complex before.

And as far as I know, Jazz and I met when he was busy throwing dirt at Emma.

Alice trusted Jazz to an abnormally high level. He was the only person that Alice had shared her life with since she came to France.

_
She went up and found Emma's cashmere scarf on the doorstep of jazz.

All these are just coincidence. I'm overthinking for no reason.
Alice consoled herself.

When she arrived on Jazz's doorstep, she heard some mysterious noise emanating from the upholstery wall. The sound was muffled and she could barely catch anything.

At the beginning, it was some indistinguishable and weird sound. The noise amounted to something like a wounded animal rather than anything human.

But then it escalated to something more profound and personal. Alice didn't know what was happening inside. She started to sweat and quiver from the deepness of her soul.

She panicked when she realized that Jazz was potentially wounded.

My love is working with dangerous tools in his practical work. Maybe that's why Emma's scooter is downstairs and her scarf is on the floor. It is because my love is wounded and he didn't want me to become worried excessively. That's why he called Em instead.

It makes sense that Jazz had called Emma, being the only person he knew around. In fact, Jazz is from the south. All his relatives and friends lived there. He got a scholarship from a famous art university in Paris.

Without realizing it, she had started to shuffle through her bag in search of the spare key that Jazz gave her for her birthday last year.

She became restless but then stopped abruptly.

She looked at the closed doors and fixed her stare at the design.

Her heart skips a beat.

The sound had changed drastically from a wounded animal to a feminine voice who was going through a plethora of sexual sensations.

Alice felt a weight on her head and a patch of cold air her back. She momentarily lost the sense of life.
She forget how to breathe, how to speak and how to live.

Her vision became blurry and tunneled into darkness. The start of a glorious migraine had started to cast its shadow over Alice and it promises to be excruciatingly painful.

Dear Alice, why would you want to open that damn door?

Her thoughts were wilding and her heart pumped toxic image at an alarming rate into her innocent mind.

Years of overthinking merged into a split second in time. As she lost grip of her harmonious life, that split second felt like an eternity for Alice.

The safe heaven that she had constructed brick by brick was being scattered and there was literally nothing that she could do to stop this massacre.

Her subconscious rehearsed thousands of scenarios divided between pushing the door to an inevitable end or keeping it close and continue life like if nothing was happening.

After all, she was gifted with a wonderful best friend and a charming boyfriend. Both were bringing colors to her life on a daily basis. Why destroy all this?
