Chapter 5: Opportunities can't be coincidences...

London, UK

Krissten's Pov.

I realized something while looking at the various shops and businesses, if I'm going to be living here... Then I'm going to need a place to live. I mean, I can't just start fresh here without having a roof over my head! I need a home, and fast too, since it was getting close to night time. You never know what could happen on the streets late at night.

I looked around and spotted a couple nearby at a coffee table and walked over to them, "Um, excuse me?" I ask them as I made it over to them. They both looked at me and the young woman smiled and said, "Yes? Is there something you need miss?" I gave a nervous look like I made a huge mistake, I had to make it like I was lost and confused, thank goodness I took a drama class in High School, " I'm new to London and I wanted to know where I can buy/rent a place to live. But I don't know where to go..."

The lady's smile grew a smidge bigger that her pretty white teeth were showing and nodded, then pointed to the streets a block away while explaining, "Of course! Those shops over there are all about renting and buying homes! You can find a place to call home in no time!" I bow slightly and thank her, then waved goodbye at her as I headed towards the buildings while she and her boyfriend waved back.

As I entered the first building, "Galiey's Wonderful Estates", I started to shake will the nervousness. I could only imagine how this could go horribly wrong, but then shook it off and made my way over to the front desk, that had a lady with peach blonde hair that wore tiny frames on her face. She looked at me and smiled, "Hello there! Welcome to Galiey's Wonderful Estates! How can I help you with today miss? Are you looking for a house?" I nodded at her and she got out from behind the desk and lead me to the back room.

(SLIGHT AUTHORS NOTE: I don't know how this would actually go so just roll with it...)

The room had pictures of available houses and apartments to choose from, and my lips formed a huge smile, but formed into a horrified expression when I saw the price,

256 Amsterdam St: $150.99

35 Forrest Apartments Dorms: $50.99 each

4901 Gregory Road: $200

I wasn't surprised, I should've known that it would cost a fortune to afford places that nice... I turned back to the lady with a saddened expression, "I'm sorry but I'm going to have to go, I can't afford these prices, but at least I looked before I payed..." She gave me an understanding nod, "Don't worry miss, it's quite alright... There's still plenty of places to look for!" I exited the building and entered the one next to it.

The sign read "Homes for Plenty", it looked decent enough to me, when I walked in I saw a teen that looked alot older than me, but wore too much Makeup, a nose piercing, and it seemed like she was chewing a piece of gum in her mouth. She looked up at me but then looked back at her phone, "Sigh, welcome to Homes for Plenty, what do ya want?" I shifted in place uncomfortably, "Um... I'm looking for a house to buy?"

She blew a bubble and popped it in her mouth, "Yeah, we got those..." She replied in a bored like tone, at this rate, I'm sure she didn't even care working here... I scratched the back of my neck, feeling quite uncomfortable in this situation, so I decided that this place wasn't worth it, "Yeah uh... I think I'm gonna just go..." I said in a hushed yet hearable so she can hear me. She tapped her phone rapidly, she was ignoring me... But I was used to my parents doing this so I wasn't bothered by it...

I exited quickly and sighed loudly, jeez this is hard! How bad is it to find a place to live...

Oh right! I can just... Wait, no, I'm not gonna find places in the newspaper, that a horrible idea...

I let out another loud sigh, this is going to take a very, long time...

Building after building was a disaster! The 3rd one I went to, "Spiffy Homes", had a pest problem but didn't deal with it, the 4th one, "Homes n' More", had very cheap houses, but were located in the worst possible areas! I mean there was one house was located near a graveyard for goodness sake! God! How difficult is it to buy a dang house! I was ready to kick the bucket at this point!

After about 5 hours of looking and searching I came up fruitless, I leaned against a lamp post while it flicked on and off. I sighed sadly, I was never going to find a home at this rate! I didn't want to be a homeless person or a hobo... Wait I think those two are the same thing... Nevermind. Up to this point I was feeling ready to give up, I got off the lamp and continued my way down the path, it was close to becoming dark, I needed to find a place to stay, it looks like I'm gonna have to find an Inn/Hotel and find a house tomorrow.

I walked a but further until spotted a little cozy Inn not too far away, so I made my way towards it, but stopped in my tracks after a chilly breeze passed by me, causing me to shiver in cold, and something to almost hit me on the face. I looked to the right of me to see some sort of flyer attached to one of those wooden telephone towers, I looked closer at it, then grabbed it and gently pulled it off to get a better look.

Roommate Wanted! Will provide a room, food, and friends for free!

I couldn't believe my eyes! Someone was looking for a roommate, and for free no less! No cost or anything at all, I started to laugh in relief and dance in place, causing people passing me to raise their eyebrows and look at me like I've gone insane. I caught myself and let out a nervous chuckle, then they continued on their own ways.

I continued towards to Inn while looking over the flyer, it's got to be fate helping me out, there's no way this could be a coincidence! I finally reached the Inn, but before I could grasp the doorknob, I found the location for the house on the flyer, and my eyes widened to the size of dinner plates. I couldn't believe where it was located!
