The next day

Krissten's POV.

I walked down the sidewalk from the store, carrying two bags of groceries. I bet you're wondering why I'm carrying said items, well you see Edd was gonna go to the store but I asked if I could go instead. I didn't want to stay at the house every day and become lazy, it would become a habit. I insisted that I go and I finally convinced him to let me.

He gave me a list of what they needed and directions to the store. I had bought; eggs, milk, bread, a bottle of Smirnoff, a Cola pack, a small handmirror, hair product, orange juice, and I also bought myself a pack of Wild Berry Poptarts for breakfast. I made my way around the corner, I was near the house but not there yet when I heard it.

"Bark!"

...huh? Did I hear that right? I looked around in confusion, I must have been hearing things. I continued forward but then I heard it again.

"Arf!"

I know I'm not hearing things! I kept looking around until I finally spotted it,

It was a small box, with a rope tied to a tree in it. It was labeled "Donations" on the front. I tilted my head to the side looking at this, so I walked over to it and looked inside.

And I couldn't believe what I was seeing...

A small tan peach husky pup was inside, and had a rope tied around it's neck. When it looked up at me it let out a happy bark and tried to jump up to me, but the rope kept it from leaving the box. I frowned at this, who would do such a horrible thing? I saw a bench near the box and looked around then placed the groceries on it. Then I crouched down to meet the pup in the box, it's tail wagging in excitement.

"Hey little guy..." I said in a hushed tone, reaching out to the pup. I assumed it was a male, not saying why though. It nuzzled into my touch, letting me pet him. I smiled and looked at the puppy, it looked down to almost bones but had some fat. It also looked like it hasn't been bathed in weeks. "Who do you belong to? Why on earth are you in this box?" I asked but knew  the pup wouldn't answer back.

I noticed there was no collar, but only the rope. Someone must have not wanted him so decided to get rid of him without no one knowing. I looked down at the pup, I noticed that his eyes were two different shades of blue, one lighter than the other. I also noticed that the box was covered in chew marks and scratches, like the poor thing was trying to get free but failed. I frowned at the poor dog's situation, but after a couple of seconds a lightbulb lit up in my head.
