It Was Always You

As I drove off from Joel's house looking back in my rearview mirror I felt my heart breaking because once again I was leaving my true soulmate behind.

After a 25 minute drive I got to Jaden's family's home. Walking up the front porch I opened the front door and found Jaden sitting there waiting for me. "Sit now and talk Nicole you owe me an explanation" well this wasn't going to end well that's for sure but I decided that I wouldn't lie to him I would tell him the truth about where I was, well at least part of the truth.

"Jaden i'm sorry I didn't call, I completely forgot I got so caught up in catching up with old friends I lost track of time." I just sat there while he started laughing hysterically.

"Who do you think you are Nicole?" wait what the hell was he trying to say?

"What's that supposed to mean Jaden?" All this time knowing Jaden I never saw him so aggressive and rude. "The life you're living right now I hope you know I gave this to you ME nobody else and for you to take advantage of me like this is ridiculous do you understand me. Who the hell said I was taking advantage what was his problem?

"Okay first of all I am not taking advantage of you and second of all what gives you the right to speak to me like this?" What an asshole wow.

"Nicole I am giving you one chance tell me the fucking truth before I blow the fuck up right now" oh so this wasn't him blowing up? Okay sure.

"Okay so I went to the bar to meet up with an old friend and that was when I ran into Joel" before I can go on with my story he says "Joel as in your fucking ex?"

This was going to be a long story... "yes Joel as in my ex" before he can say anything else I continued with my story, "so Joel and I ran into each other and we started talking just catching up and stuff." I can see the anger in his eyes as I say each word. "So you cheated on me?" what the fuck I never said anything about cheating I mean it's not a lie as ashamed as I feel I did cheat on him but that's not something I would say of course.

"I never said that I cheated on you Jaden I said we were catching up just let me finish please" all he did was nod his head in approval so I continued.

"Okay so we were catching up, then I got up to go to the restroom that was when a man came up to me and grabbed me I told him to get off and he wouldn't so Joel saw and he basically beat up the man for touching me."

"So he got jealous of another guy touching you and he lost it, ok got it"

Ugh seriously there was no winning with this guy he was way too stubborn and wouldn't even let me explain myself and now I had to tell him i'm going out again tonight, great.

"I don't know what it was but he helped me that's all that matters okay, and i'm sorry but I need to meet with him tonight there is some unresolved issues that need to be said to one another and it has to be done Jaden." That was when I saw a whole different side of Jaden he did something nobody in my life has ever done, he slapped me right across the face. I looked at him in shock as I felt blood on my lip I started backing away from him in fear. "Wait Nicole I don't know why I just did that."

I ran up the stairs and locked the door not being able to stay anywhere near him and started to cry. "Nicole open the fucking door I just slapped you it's not a big fucking deal you had it coming you should have never acted like a whore." As I felt my cheek bruising a little and my lip swelling I found my phone from my purse and texted Joel.

Me: J I need you where are you?

Joel: Where are you baby? i'll come get you.

Me: No i'll meet you, can you come to our old spot at the park near the pier?

Joel: Ya angel i'm leaving my house now are you okay?

Me: No i'm not.

I already knew when Joel saw my face that he would flip out but I needed him I needed to be in his arms and feel safe and most importantly I needed to leave Jaden.

As my hands were shaking I opened the room door and saw Jaden sitting with a bottle of Whiskey in his hand that was more than halfway done.

"Move Jaden i'm leaving" He was incredibly drunk which scared me, I remember growing up with an alcoholic father and once he got mad all hell broke loose.

"The fuck you are Nicole get your ass back here" I started running down the stairs until I felt someone push me and I went flying all the way to the front door.

"You're not leaving me Nicole get that through your head i'll kill you before you can step foot out that door." Although my ankle was throbbing and my lip was cut spilling out an insane amount of blood I managed to open the front door and run for my life.
