"Tell me again what happened." The police officer said to me for the second time. My eyebrows came together in a frustrated frown because he just kept asking me the same questions over and fucking over.

"I already told you, we got into an argument and she walked off. I went after her as she was crossing the street...s—she wasn't paying enough attention when she crossed. Even though they ran a red light, she just assumed it was safe to go." My eyes burned with tears as the images played in my head once again. I gagged feeling sick as fuck to my stomach. She was angry with me because of what I said. Knowing this all happened because of me made me feel terrible.

"So you had nothing to do with it?" He looked right in my eyes with his eyebrows raised, implying something that was going to piss me the fuck off real quick.

"EXCUSE ME?!" I looked at him crazily, not caring about him being a cop at the moment. He smoking too much dick right now.

"So you mean to tell me.. you just got released from prison for illegal possession of firearms and basically aggravated robbery and your...," he throws up finger quotes on both hands, "...friend is suddenly hit by a vehicle that was supposedly violating the law??" He shrugged his shoulders and shook his head in disbelief as he folded his arms over his broad chest.

Without any hesitation, I aggressively banged my fist on the top of the police car and pointed my index finger directly at his face. "Look. If you have evidence, you say that. Otherwise, why the fuck am I still even talking to you? My WIFE is hurt and you're not busting your ass to find the person who hurt her."

He couldn't say anything to that. "Yea, got yo ass gagged too huh?" I rolled my eyes at his homophobic ass and glanced in the direction of the ambulance taking Quency to the hospital.

"Miss?! Hurry, if you're riding with her." The paramedic yelled to me. I immediately jumped off the trunk of the police car knowing this bitch ass cop had nothing on me because I didn't do shit. I threw the cover that the paramedic gave me off my shoulders as I sprinted towards the ambulance.

Once I got inside the cab and looked down at her unconscious body, I broke down again. Hot tears stained my shirt as I shook my head in disbelief. It was so painful to see her this way. I wanted to trade places with her so badly because this was all my doing.

The paramedics placed her in a neck collar to keep her head and neck from moving out of place. There was blood everywhere on her from various cuts and bruises. Blood dripped down from her hair into her face so I took the end of my shirt to wipe it away.

Even in a situation like this one, she still looked so damn beautiful. Through falling tears, a bittersweet smile appeared of my lips. I gently rubbed her cheek and bent down to place a small kiss on her dry lips. I grabbed her hand and it felt so cold to the touch.
