I stood there. Why did am I just standing there? "Come in," I said, making way.
I know this is kinda bad but Leyal's here. I thought.
Kevin went to the family room. I have a bad skeptical thought in my head about Kevin being here with me. I don't know what to feel about it.
I went into the kitchen and from the indoor window, I stared.
Leyal sneaks up on me. "Shit! You scared me." I blurred out holding my chest in fright. "Are you okay?" I asked her.
"What's he doing here, Mags?" Leyal says holding her stomach.
I turned to look at Kevin and turned to look back at Leyal.
"He wants to see you Leyal." I said, Leyal looks over at Kevin and sighs. "Fine." She says rolling her eyes walking over to him.
"Um, hello Kevin." She says. I tried not to be prying to their conversation.
Kevin stood up. "Hey." He says, licking his lips.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know." He added.
Leyal didn't know what to say. I peeked through the indoor window that is led to the family room.
I can't hear them. I thought.
Kevin and Leyal hugged each other tightly.
I smiled.
At the dinner table, mom and dad told us about their day.
Leyal looks at me across from the table in desperation of wanting to tell mom and dad her secret for weeks. She's only 2 months pregnant.
"So. Anyone is gonna tell me how was their day?" Mom says. I and Leyal looked at mom then to each other, lifting and chewing our food in our mouths.
I gave Leyal that look as if she knows what I'm talking about.
What's she waiting for? I wondered. "Mom, can I be excused?" Leyal says breaking the silence.
Without an answer, Leyal drops her food and walks away from the dinner table. I held my grudge.
After dinner, mom washed the dishes. I head upstairs to my room. Finally. I fell on my bed in relief, closing my eyes.
Leyal knocks on my bedroom door. I turned and sat up on the edge of my bed.
"I wanna tell mom." she sobbed.
I nodded. "But I'm needed help," Leyal says.
Leyal and I walked together to the kitchen where mom was washing dishes.
The sound of the sink and the sound of the dishwasher overpowered the room.
I looked at Leyal's face. Nervous and agitated.
"Mom?" Leyal walks in her direction. Mom turns. "Yes, Leyal?" She continued to hand wash the dishes and puts them in the dishwasher. "I need to speak with you in the living room," Leyal suggested. Mom took a minute to reply, I sat in the living room where dad always sits. Mom took the cleaning gloves off and head to the living room.
Leyal sat next to me but looking down, mom sat across from us.
"So, what's there you needed to tell me?" mom asks.
