Walking was a pain. At least that's what it felt like when you don't have anyone to interact with to take your mind off from how far you were walking.
A young female saber, simply known as 'Hazel', understood that feeling too well.
She was travelling towards the south where everyone else was heading. She was going there in the hopes of starting a new life. Been a lone survivor of her family was tough, but it had been ages since then and those wounds were slowly healing and she felt that she was ready to start fresh.
She was walking through a rocky mountain heading towards the south, thinking over the fun times she had with her family before their lives were taken.
Playing around the huge fields with friends, seeing the smiles plastered on their faces.
The crying of the cubs and the bickering from the other sabers around her-
"NOW, SID!!"
She yelped and froze completely as those words echoed through the rocks which was then followed by a crying, which now made her realize it wasn't apart of her imagination.
"I thought everyone headed south." She thought to herself. "Who else is here?"
Curious, she followed the sound of the crying and went to hide in a couple a bushes.
The scene she saw in front of her was completely unbelievable.
There stood a mammoth, a sloth (who she assumed was "Sid") and another saber all standing around a rock that held what looked like a human baby, who was crying.
It seems as all they were trying to take care of it, but weren't exactly doing a good job of it, as the sloth threw the diaper in the air, that ultimately landed on the mammoth who threw it away in disgust, which looked empty. She couldn't help but let out a silent giggle.
The one conclusion that came to her head on why the baby was crying was that it was hungry. She'd helped raised cubs in her pack, and they would cry for food when they were hungry, perhaps this baby was the same.
She decided to stay low and see whether they could figure it out, which didn't seem too likely.
"Maybe I should go help them out." She thought to herself, when the male saver decided to play peek-a-boo with it, or as he stated, Where's the baby?".
"Who knows how long it'll take them..."
She took a deep breath, slowly walked out of the bushes when stating, "Its hungry."
Everyone including the baby turned to face her. The sudden silence that sat between them put her on edge, and she muttered again, "The baby's hungry."
They just stared at her for a few moments, and when the mammoth was about to speak, when the baby's stomach growled loudly, turning everyone's attention towards him.
"Heyyy," The sloth looked up at her as he placed it down on the rock again. "-you must be right!" He snapped his finger at her, as the baby began crying again.
"How about some milk?" The mammoth suggested as the sloth stated, "Ooh I'd love some-"
"Not you." The male saber went up at the sloth who moved back. "The baby."
"Well I ain't exactly lactating right now, pal." Hazel stared at the sloth wide-eyed. Was he really going up against the saber?
"You're a little low on the food chain to be mouthin' off, aren't you?!"
