The four mammals soon began their way once the baby was done eating dinner, but after an hour or two, nighttime rolled around, and they all decided to just settle down and continue tomorrow.
Manny had gotten Sid to check the baby for feces, which got the sloth to make disgusted remarks, getting a smack on the back of the head.
Hazel lied opposite of where they stood with Diego, who rolled his eyes at the two other mammals, lying a few inches away from her.
"So," She turned to male saber. "How come your on your own, without a pack?"
"Uh..." Hazel just stared at the male saber, looking down. She didn't want to completely tell him about her situation, not wanting to turn the conversation into her life story.
"I wanted to start fresh." She stared back at him, completely going against what she just told herself.
"On the north side?" Diego raised an brow. "Alone?"
"I'm alone because I left my pack." She finally told him. "I'm a mammal who happens to care for the lives of others...at least ones who don't harm animals simply for pleasure."
Diego just stared her and was about to reply-
"That's it!" They slowly turned to see Sid scolding the baby, hold onto the cloth that looked full. "No more fruit for you mister!!" He then walked away covering his nose with his other hand.
Hazel just laughed weakly, letting out a small gag as Diego just rolled his eyes, placing his head down in between his paws.
As for Manny, he just groaned loudly, looking down at the baby who giggled. "Alright..." He picked the child up from the rock. "Bedtime squirt." He went over to sleep near the rock, opposite side of both sabers and tried to get the baby to lie comfortably in his trunk.
Hazel turned over towards Sid who had already thrown the cloth away, spat in his hands and wiped them together before heading off.
"Now to find a meal," he grabs hold of a nearby branch from a tree, "-befitting a conquering hero." He lets go but ended up getting hit on the back of the head by the branch he'd once held onto, knocking him face first into the floor.
She chuckled at the scene as he slowly got up remarking it, ready to fight the tree.
She looked back at Manny who had moved closer to the rock, eying her and Diego before staring down at the child.
"Does he really not trust us?" She thought, thinking over it.
She and Diego were sabers, who were known for predators, it explain why the mammoth would be a little skeptical of them.
She then looked over at Diego, and was quite surprised to see him already asleep. Was he that tired? Who knows...she was quite tired herself. Yawning loudly, she rests her head down in between her paws, ready to sleep the night away.
"Oh, the triumphant returns." Manny comments bluntly.
Hazel opens one eye to see Sid coming back. "What timing."
"Huh? Oh- Oh that." Sid chuckled weakly, letting a small sigh as he muttered something.
Hazel decided to go back to sleep, but was kept up by the conversation.
"How about a good night kiss for your big buddy Si-"
Manny shushes the sloth harshly. "His asleep." He nods down at the baby.
"I was talking to you." Sid turned away.
Manny glared at the sloth at his strange request whilst Hazel tried to keep herself from laughing because of how offended Sid sounded.
