I opened my door and saw them both standing in my room. I acted surprised but only looked at them. Even after what I heard I was still hurt. He still hadn't apologized to my face.
Riza's eyes were red and puffy. I looked down. I turned off my light and walked past them down the hallway into the kitchen. I still needed water.
I took a cup from the cupboard and ran water from the faucet into the cup. Taking big gulps. Roy approached. I turned around as he stood less than five feet away. Riza stayed behind him, biting her nail.
"I just came by to pick up some papers," he said defensively.
"Yeah." I said quietly. I don't understand why I didn't tell them I knew. It would make it easier on them. I know it would. So why was I doing it? I don't know the answer to that.
Riza turned and picked up Baxter, walking into my room and shutting the door.
"Y/N about what I said earlier I-" I cut him off.
"It's fine I believe you when you said it."
"But it's not true. You are worthy of obtaining any secrets of any alchemy. We just want to protect you." I thought back to the alchemy book tucked under my bed. I planned on staying up and reading it tonight. Hopefully to understand more. "We just want you to be safe."
"So you're not safe?"
He took a deep breathe and explained everything about how Riza's father was his teacher and how Riza held the secrets to flame alchemy on her back and how at the end of it all she made him burn her back.
I winced at the thought. I looked up and Roy was crying. Quiet sobs. Whispering "I'm sorry."
I just walked over and gave him a hug. He held me tight and sobbed more. I'd never seen Roy cry before. Yet again I had never seen Riza cry.
