Chapter 3

Nothing much happened after the whole 'moon stone and wanderlust packaging' incident. I just ended up studying until late at night (well..not that late at night since Madame Verenice will come inside my room to remind me that I have to go to sleep) and I clearly forgot all about the necklace.

Not until this morning, which is a Monday morning. I woke up an hour before my weekday alarm which usually rang at 05.30 PM and school starts at 07.00, so...you can probably guess what time I woke up.

I spent a whole 2 minutes staring at the wall trying to regain my senses. While looking at the clock, I realize I could still have an hour nap and the alarm will wake me up, but for some reasons...I can't seem to sleep again. It feels like...I'm not that tired? Which is strange since I spent the whole Sunday studying and reading several informations about the moon stone...

Which reminds me...

Where is the moon stone?

I searched for it in my drawers since I left it inside there last night, but when I rummaged through the drawers...it's not there...

Huh...that's weird...

I started to look below my bed, in my journal and even inside my bookshelf.

But there's no sight of the moon stone anywhere..

I'm afraid that Madame Verenice might see it while she snoops around my room and asked me when did I get this necklace. What should I answer her? That it suddenly popped out of nowhere? She would think that I've gone ballistic!

After wasting 10 minutes exploring my room, I could conclude that...

The moon stone is nowhere to be seen. But I couldn't have misplaced it! I swear I kept it inside my drawers. It wouldn't have moved around by itself right? Because last night, I locked my door and no one could've went inside my room through the windows as well...

Ugh..whatever, I need to get dressed, I could stress about the moon stone later when I get back home.

I went inside my walk-in-closet to take out my uniform and a random cardigan. My middle school allows their students to wear a jacket or cardigan with their uniforms. It's not a must but you can if you wanted to. We just have to make sure our jacket or cardigan is kid-friendly or else it would get confiscated.

I laid out my uniform on my bed as I went inside my bathroom to have a quick shower.

15 minutes have passed and I am fully- dressed, I already put in the books that I needed beforehand inside my backpack, so all I need to do now is go downstairs and have breakfast.

I went out of my room with my backpack on my shoulder, down the stairs and into the dining room. When I arrived, I see Madame Verenice standing beside my usual seat.

It's kinda ridiculous that this huge dining room with an enormous table have 8 chairs but I still chose to sit in this one particular seat next to the window. Maybe because I like to look at the scenery outside while eating? Although there's nothing much to see to be honest.

Also, for 65% of the year, I eat alone while sitting on this chair. Because my parents are always away on business trips.

Yes, imagine having breakfast, lunch, and dinner alone throughout the year...

Anyway...continuing on..

I smiled softly as I mumbled a 'Good morning' to Madame Verenice before taking a seat and dropping my backpack on the side.

"Good morning as well Carlyn, I expect you to have an actual breakfast." Madame Verenice said mockingly, she's probably referring to the small breakfast I had yesterday. I smiled bitterly as I laid out the napkin on my lap and scanned the table to pick out an actual breakfast.
