"Carlyn...why are you laying down on the floor? Did you fall or something?"

Wait what?

I opened my eyes to see my Geography teacher looking at me with her concerned face. I widened my eyes and quickly stood up to face her and give her an explanation.

"Um...I was about to erase the excess writings on the whiteboard, but..um, I tripped and fell head first onto the floor." I explained, trying to not sound like I'm stuttering. I didn't know if it worked or not but she seems to shrug it off and proceeds to set her things down on the teacher's desk.

So, I assumed that my words were convincing? Though I'm not sure because that was a stupid reason. I mean that's the only thing that popped into my mind so, I just had to go with it.

I hurried to my desk and prepped all of the things I need to study Geography. I just hope she won't think about it too much...

"Okay Carlyn, please open page 29 on your Geography text book and answer the questions listed in it. After that you could do some silent reading until page 40." She instructed. I nodded and started opening my textbook.

I scanned all the questions before answering them in my notebook.

Okay, 20 questions. 15 of them are multiple choices and the rest are essay questions.

I just hope that time will fly faster, my head can't cooperate with me after that incident.

Never realized that the outside world is that scary...

"That's it for today, make sure you do some silent reading because we'll have a pop quiz on the next meeting."

I sighed in relief as she wrapped up the study session for today. I stretched my arms and legs to relieve the pain I was having.

As I was about to tidy my essentials, the teacher walked towards me with a concerning look,

"Carlyn, are you not feeling well? You look pale and you barely did anything this meeting. This isn't like you." She said with full disappointment in her voice. Though I know that she's worried about me but, I suddenly felt more pressured.

"Sorry..I was just having a bad day at school." I answered her simply. She shook her head, "You might have a bad day at school and I totally understand how upset you are. But that doesn't mean it has to affect your studying activities." She scolded as she puts her right hand against my shoulder.

I glanced at her with a tired smile as I listened to her lecture and what-not.

"Take care of yourself properly, your parent's wouldn't want you slacking off, would they?" She asked as she massages my shoulders a bit. I nodded as a sign I understood as she smiles in reply.

"Good, now take a break. If I'm not mistaken...you have a Mathematics class after this?" She asked once again. I nodded slightly and started taking out my Math textbooks.

"Oh, it must be easy for you. After all your mother told me you won the Mathematics Olympics Competition a few months back." She cheered happily. I just nodded and thanked her promptly.

To be very honest, I wouldn't have joined that tiresome competition if it weren't for mother who keeps chirping about how important that competition was for my scholarship. Though in my opinion, it doesn't have a huge impact. Nevertheless I am going to be pushed to study harder and harder to get the scholarship with full marks. So, joining the competition was a bit unnecessary.

"Anyway, I'll see you next week. Good luck!" She bid her goodbye as the sounds of her heels clicking onto the concrete floor disappears into the hallways.
