A/N: so yeah, I wish to go over my own personal opinions of the CGI between the Older Films and the More Recent ones.
Personally for me, I do think that the CGI in the original film still looks good. But, I think that it's improved a lot more once we get to Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom where the dinosaurs have more detail and texture added to them.
I also think that the CGi for the animals now are still convincing in the recent films. Just to Clarify, I do still think that the CGI in the previous films still looks convincing. But, I don't think it's AS convincing as it was back then. What I mean by that is that there are moments where the dinosaurs don't look that much like their animatronics and some fewer times where the lighting is off on the models.
The lighting, however, is a minor problem. But, I do want to say that for me, there are times where parts of the model looks a bit off and takes away from it being convincing a little.
As infamous as this shot is, and it's still one of my favorites. Certain parts of the body seem off in the moment. Such as the bottom of the neck, it's minor, but, it kinda looks a little pasted over the care a bit compared to the rest of the head. The feet as well don't entirely feel like they're touching the ground correctly or of they are.
The CGI Models in later films seem to have a case of realism like the ones from the films back then did. The lighting seems pretty good on them and they looked almost exactly identical to their animatronics.
And while the recent Jurassic Films have their own points where the CGi seemed off from the part of the setting, it still seemed to be really good and fit well.
In this moment, it's well detail, lighted, and I get the sense that there was something there that bashed through the skeleton.
The same was with Fallen Kingdom too, if did well with the dinosaur CG and it's animatronics. Case in point, the Indoraptor.
In this moment where the indoraptor is about to kill wheatly, I had zero Idea that this was all CGI. I thought that it was the animatronic that they were using. I Didn't know until much later on. It really did convince me that they were using the animatronic and not CGI. That's how well I think the new films managed to pull moments like this off, I really do think that they've improved a lot with their CGI over the years.
But again, that's not to say that the old films' CG is shit and has aged horribly. It's still aged pretty good for the most part. I mean yeah, not entirely, but, it's still very good. However, I do think that the recent films managed to improve on the CGI for it's creatures and still managed to make them convincing for me to give that sense of realism I've felt from seeing these animals the first time I've watched the original Jurassic Park.
