A/N: my own review of Captain Marvel and what I thought about it.
I'm just going to say this once, turn away now if you don't wish to be spoiled.
Ok, I warned you, this is my spoiler review on Captain Marvel.
Let me make things perfectly clear, all of this is based on my own opinion and personal viewing of it. I would appreciate it if these would both be respected and not have people bitching in the comments about how bad they thought the film was or bitch at me for liking it.
Pros:
Story was good. Seeing Carol go through what seemed like this journey and she began to discover more and more of her memories and learn the truth about everything.
Brie Larson's acting was okay for the most part. Could have been better, but, it was by no means, terrible.
The rest of the cast was also pretty good, with some like Samuel L. Jackson were really well done.
Speaking of which, they did very impressive in making his character look young in this film. Like, top notch CGI work to pull that off.
Carol's relationship with Nick Fury was nice to see throughout the film and gave a few good laughs here and there and showing a little more on him. It even makes things come together on how Nick got that communication device first seen at the end of Infinity War.
Carol's Cat, Goose was great in this film. It seemed like it was this innocent looking cat that the Skrull feared for some reason. But, once we get near the climax of the film, you can definitely see why. Seeing Fury's expression from when he saw the cat's mouth turn into a bunch of tentacles and eat the the Tesseract was priceless.
The film has some good comedy in it, like some moments with Talos were just a laugh. Especially when he reacts to Goose.
The twist that the Skrulls were actually good and were only looking for a new home was a really nice twist. Especially since the skrulls in comics and other media are usually portrayed as mainly an evil alien race.
Final Battle of the Film was eh for the most part.
Cons:
There was few bits of dialogue and jokes that seemed off and felt like they didn't really need to be kept in the movie. But, that's with a lot of marvel movies.
The Connection between Carol and Yon-Rogg didn't seem like it was all that big to make the twist and the final battle a little more impactful.
While it was nice seeing Ronan again, he wasn't really in the film for that long to really give much.
And that's about it for the pros and cons of the film. Now, for the score I give it.
8½ out of 10. It may not be a perfect marvel movie (there's no such thing as a perfect movie), but, it's a fun and entertaining film with good characters, great story and a little taste of things to come from Captain Marvel before we get to endgame.
Speaking of Endgame, judging from the expressions my sister had after she watched that film, I can only assume on just what type of film I'm going to be in for.
