I stared at the building and all the students walking in with the sound of the ten minute bell coming from inside. I sighed and adjusted my skirt on my uniform. I held my books for my first class in my arms with my backpack on my back. I was nervous as I walked down the hall slowly and I felt out of place. at my old school there would be fights usually at this time, some kids smoking by there lockers and students secretly selling drugs out of there lockers. But none of that was happening here. I stood outside what I think was my first class and checked my schedule.
“Room 129…AP english with Dr.Rainen…” I looked up from my schedule and looked at the number at the door. 129. I sighed in relief and walked in. I saw people sitting at there desks talking and laughing and I held my books closer as I felt more nervous than ever. The bell then rang and I jumped a little. I looked over at the teacher. She was a old woman who looked like she was in her late forty’s or early fifty’s.
“Good morning class,” she sounded like she had a southern accent,”before we start with today’s lesson we have a new student Joining us today.” She then looked at me and smiled and I looked back at the class and they were staring at me. It felt uncomfortable and I held my books closer.
“Would you mind telling us your name?” I heard the teacher ask and I gulp slightly.
“M-my Lillian Collins…but I go by Lilly.”
“Well that’s a beautiful name Lilly. Why don’t you have the seat right between Jane and Riley?” I nodded and walked slowly to the seat between a girl and a boy, who I thought was kinda cute. I took my seat after taking off my backpack and placed my books on the desk then Dr.Rainen began teaching her lesson and the girl leaned over.
“Hey there!” She whispered with a smile on her face,”I’m Jane.” I shrunk in my seat and the boy leaned over.
“Jane don’t bother her right now. When Rainen let’s us have our ten minute break before class ends then you can bother her.” He whispered and I shrunk even more.
“Riley you’re no fun.” She then sat back n her seat and crossed her arms and I stayed silent. I then took notes and I looked over and saw that Jane was doodling and when I looked over at Riley he had his head on his desk with his arms around his head. He was probably asleep. I then went back to taking notes. After Thirty minutes Jane and everyone but me and the teacher were asleep. I looked at Dr.Rainen as she walked up to her desk, picked up a book and dropped it. It landed on her desk with a loud smack. Everyone then jumped awake and yelled and that made me yelp and made my heart race. She then smiled like nothing happened.
“Ok class you have ten minutes till the bell rings. Talk till the bell rings.” She then went to her desk and sat down sand I was holding my heart as it was trying to calm down.
“Ok…well that scared me.” I then laughed.
“She always does that since almost everyday everyone falls asleep.” Riley said while I took slow deep breaths.
“So anyway you said your name was Lilly right?” Jane said and I nodded.
“You don’t talk much do ya?” Riley said.
“I’m just nervous…I haven’t really gone to a private school before.” I said and shrunk in my seat.
“Don’t worry we’ll help you right Riley?” Jane said with a smile and Riley’s eyes went wide.
“Wait what?” He said.
“Riley!”
“Ok! We will.” I had a confused look on my face.
“What just happened?” I asked and looked at both of them.
“You just got two new friends.’ Jane said. I was completely confused but before I could say anything the bell ran and they picked me up and dragged me out with my feet dragging on the floor of the hall with Riley carrying my backpack and Jane carrying my books and schedule.
