"Drunkie?"

Betty's P.O.V.

Archie and I started by going to F.P. to ask him some questions about the car crash. Since he was the Sheriff now, he'd know more about it than we did.

Apparently, he'd also come to visit Jughead, so as soon as we started heading towards the hospital doors, they opened, and F.P. stood on the other side.

"Betty, Archie," he said. "Where's Jughead?"

We took him to the room and waited in the lobby until he came back out.

"Goddammit," he muttered. "I swear I'm gonna catch the bastard that did this to my son."

"Mr. Jones?" I said shyly.

He looked over at me.

"Archie and I, we . . . We want to help you with that. Tracking down the drunkie that did this."

"Drunkie?" Archie questioned. "You mean like druggie?"

I waved off the distinction and turned back to F.P.

"So can we help?" I asked.

Mr. Jones considered it for a second, then said, "Okay. Sure. Come with me to my office and we can figure this out."

Archie and I climbed inside F.P.'s cop car and he drove us down to the station and led us into his office.

F.P. sat in his chair and Archie and I took our seats at the two chairs on the other side of the desk.

"What do you know about the drunk driver?" Archie asked.

"We got these photos," Mr. Jones said.

He pulled a file out from the file cabinet, slapped it onto the desk, and opened it up. There were pictures of a dark car speeding off into the night, blurry, but thanks to the car lights, the licence plate was visible.

"We'll need to enhance the photos to see the licence better," he said, "But that shouldn't be hard."

"No need for that," I said, standing up. "I already know who this belongs to."

I swung open the door to my house and called, "Mom?"

She came to the door. "Betty?" she said. "Where have you been?"

"I was at the—Never mind. Do you know where Dad is?"

"He's at The Register."

"Thanks."

Archie and I went to The Register to see my dad seated in front of his computer, tiredly hitting the keyboard. When the bell above the door rang, he slowly looked up and gave a small, half-smile.

"Hey, Betty," he said. "Archie. What are you guys doing here?"

"I know you did it, Dad," I said angrily.

"What did I do?"

"You got drunk and hit Jughead while you were driving. Now he's in the hospital because of you!"

"Now, Betty, why in the world would you think I did that?"

I showed him a copy of the file F.P. had given me. Even though the licence plate was difficult to read, I managed to find out what it said in a matter of seconds. That, and it was clearly my dad's car in the photo driving away from the crime scene.

Dad's face paled as his eyes scanned over the pictures. Then he sighed and said, "It was an accident."

"Well, too bad, Hal," F.P. said behind us. "Because you're getting arrested either way."

Mr. Jones locked my dad's wrists together with his handcuffs and led him out of the building.

"Don't worry," he said on his way out. "It won't be for too long. Oh, and you'll need to pay for my son's hospital bill, considering you're the one who did this to him and all..."

One week later . . .

I arrived at the hospital to help Jughead pack up his stuff. He was finally coming home from the hospital.

I took the suitcase, as Jughead still had a broken leg and had to use crutches to walk. I helped him out of his bed and took the suitcase to the car as he limped alongside me.

"Finally, I'm free," he said as I helped him into the car.

"Finally," I said, grinning.

I saw my mom roll her eyes but ignored it as she drove us to Jughead's trailer, where she dropped us off and went home. I carried the suitcase inside and F.P. helped Jughead into the trailer before leaving for work.

Jughead dropped onto the couch and sighed in exhaustion. I smiled and curled up beside him, and he wrapped his arms around me as I leaned against his chest.

"Welcome home, my love," I whispered.

And that wraps up Crashed! Now I'll need to think up some new ideas for one-shots. Again, if you have any suggestions, let me know. I could seriously use some. I hope you enjoyed Crashed, and be on the lookout for my next one-shot!
