Jeongguk fidgeted nervously as he sat in the "Royal Study" surrounded by nothing but vampires.

There were four guards at the door, four men in armor, and three men starring down at him like they were waiting for him to make any sudden movements.

Jeongguk tries to refrain from any thoughts about Taehyung and the whole mate situation since Namjoon kept reminding his that one of these blood suckers could read minds.

So he just tries to focus on counting to a thousand.

566, 567, 569, 5~ damnit I forgot 568.

Jin snickers to himself. And this guy is supposed to be the next alpha?

Jeongguk smells Taehyung's scent and he perks up a little but still refrains from any thoughts concerning the boy.

    "Your Royal Highness Kim Taehyung."

    "On your feet." One of the three vampires snap.

Jeongguk slowly rises from his seat while holding the boy's glare.

The doors open and Jeongguk's breath is taken away by how beautiful Taehyung truly is, he can't tell if it's the mate bond or his actual feelings though.

Everyone bows so Jeongguk does too.

    "As you were." Taehyung says approaching them. "You all are here?"

    "Just to greet you, Your Highness." Jin says. "And to meet Jeon Jeongguk."

Jeongguk rolls his eyes at that, all the three had done was stare him down for the past twenty minutes.

    "He's nice, isn't he?" Taehyung asks smiling at Jeongguk.

Jeongguk's heartbeat accelerates as he smiles back.

    "As nice as any Jett." Yoongi says looking Jeongguk up and down.

    "Yoongi and I aren't staying, but we wanted to wish you luck on your first assignment." Jimin says hugging Taehyung.

    "Thank you." Taehyung says hugging him back.

    "Don't work too hard. Okay, kitten?" He says pulling away from the hug.

Jeongguk raises an eyebrow at that. Kitten? What the fuck is that, a nickname?

Jin shoots the true blood a glare and Jeongguk immediately tries to focus on something else besides the annoyance swelling in his chest.

    "We'll be on our way then." Yoongi says, finally pulling his glare away from Jeongguk.

Jeongguk moves to take his seat and everyone reacts like he was about to pounce.

The guards go to draw their swords and the three vampires turn to him quickly with their defenses up.

Jeongguk sighs. "Can I sit down?"

    "No."

    "Of course."

Taehyung looks at the others. "Why not?"

    "He'll take a seat after you take yours, Your Highness." Yoongi says through clenched teeth.

    "Jeongguk doesn't believe in the system of ranks." Taehyung says. "I'm fine with being considered equal to him."

    "You're not, you're royalty. And he's...a Jett." Yoongi says.

    "Hyung, we're all creatures here." Taehyung says stepping forward in Jeongguk's defense. "You're no better than the humans if you look down on his kind and his beliefs."
