My Life as a Demigod

Chapter 3- Lunchtime

We go to this pavilion thing. It has no roof but some benches. We walk over to this horse dude and the girl says "Chiron. Is it okay if this little girl eats with us? She hasn't gotten claimed yet and I don't want the Hermes kids to scare her." Then Percy says "Plus she seems to have grown an attachment to us." Horse dude says "I'll accept it. Once she's claimed she'll have to sit with her other cabin-mates." Percy says "Thanks Chiron." We go over to a bench. Percy sits down. The girl sits down. I sit in between them. Some of the kids are looking at me. The girl puts her arm around me protectively and I lean into her. So far everyone seems nice. Percy and the girl seem nice and like they want to protect me all the time. Suddenly plates and cups appear in front of us. I jump. Then I watch in awe as Percy's cup fills with blue soda and some blue muffins on the plate and as the girl's cup fills up with water and some salad on her plate. I get the idea. I think to myself "Pink lemonade with some blue." Percy smiles. Then I think to myself "Crackers." Percy and the girl dive into a conversation. Then I tug at the girl's sleeve and ask shyly "What's your name?" The girl says "I'm Annabeth." I think to myself "A pretty name for a pretty girl." Annabeth says "Thank you." I say "Did I just say that out loud?" Annabeth says "Yes you did." I look embarrassed. Then Annabeth asks "What's your name?" I respond by saying "I'm Jessica but you can call me Jess." Annabeth says "It's nice to meet you Jess." Then Annabeth and Percy stand up. Percy picks me up. He says "Jess. Do you know about the Greek gods and goddesses?" I nod. "Percy says "Everyone at this place has a Greek god or goddess as a parent. That Greek god or goddess meets a human and they hook up. After they hook up they have a child and that child is a Demi-god." I ask "So I'm a Demi-god?" Percy says "Yes you are and right now we are going to give some of our food as an offering to our Godly parent. Percy sends his to Poseidon. Annabeth sends hers to Athena. I put mine in and think "To whoever my godly parent is. Please claim me." Then we walk back to our spot and continue eating and drinking. Percy and Annabeth talk about capture the flag. I just stay quiet and eat slowly. I eat a little bit of what's left of my crackers. Then I have a little more of my drink. Then I think to myself "I'm done." My plate and cup disappear. Percy and Annabeth exchange concerned glances probably because they're worried that I didn't eat much.

I sit on Annabeth's lap and I play with her fingers while she and Percy are having a conversation. I dose off. I can sense that someone is lifting me off the bench. I tense up. Then I relax once I realize that it's Percy. They carry me somewhere and I don't know where because I'm too tired to care. Then I get lost in a dream.
