My Life as a Demigod

Chapter 18- We escape Tartarus which isn't so easy....

After 2 hours of climbing we're 500 feet up. I keep climbing. Then one of the ledges I was holding on to broke. I was just holding onto the ledge with one hand. Jake says "Jessica! Don't worry I won't let you fall!" He reaches out for my hand. I say "I don't need help. I got this." Then I single handedly pulled myself up and got to a stable ledge. After another 2 hours we were almost at the top. Actually everyone except me had escaped. I was so close to escaping when some monster jumped up and grabbed onto my leg. I was hanging onto one ledge again. The weight of the monster is pulling me. I yell "HELP!!" Then Leo sees what's happening to me. He reaches his hand out for me. I grab onto his hand. The weight of the monster is still pulling me down. Leo says "Jessica. Listen to me. You need to get your sword out with your free hand! I say "I'm scared! What if I fall?!?" Leo says "You won't fall. Trust me. I'll be holding onto you this whole time." I say "Okay." Then I get my sword out. I kill the monster then I put my sword away. I grab onto Leo with my other hand. Then he pulls me up. I say "Leo. You saved me. I thought you hated me." Leo says "Oh I don't hate you. I was just testing you to see how you can defend yourself." Then I get on the Argo II with everyone else and we set our course back to Camp Half Blood.
