take your own notes, if you think that the information that your class teacher is giving you is not enough for the exam, go home and look online or in your textbook for more info. take your own notes and revise from them if you think your class ones are useless.
even if what your teacher is teaching you is good, go away and learn about that topic or subject in a little bit more depth. if you've done science tests before, you'll understand that what you learn and what the questions are about are very different or complex.
