What happens behind closed sets//DomKat

Court Date

-A Few Days Later-

Kat's POV

I really don't want to go into court today. Seeing Ray again is gonna be awful. But I think it'll be okay since Domi will be with me the whole time. But I really just wish I didn't have to go.

Dom: "Are you ready?"

Kat: "As ready as I'll ever be I guess."

Dom gives Kat a look of concern, a look that says: we've been over this, you'll be fine

Dom: "I'll take that as an enthusiastic yes! It'll be over soon enough and then you never have to see him again and we can go get ice cream."

The edges of Kat's mouth curve up slightly in amusement with the perky brunette in front of her

Kat: "You really look on the bright side of things don't you?"

Dom: "Well one of us has too!"

Dom playfully punches Kat's arm and Kat laughs slightly as she says:

Kat: "Ow."

Dom: "Oh come on I couldn't have hurt you much! Now let's go, we're gonna be late."

Kat: "Fineeee but only because you're coming and I get ice cream after."

Dom: "That's the spirit!"

Dom grabs her water bottle and her purse

Dom: "Damn I almost forgot to grab the most important thing of all!"

Dom grabs Kat's hand, intertwines their fingers, and pulls Kat's hand up to her mouth and kisses it.

Dom: "There! Now we're all set to go."

Kat's cheeks turn a bright shade of crimson and she looks at her feet, trying to avoid eye contact

My God what is she trying to do to me? Just a moment ago I was dreading going to this thing and now all I can focus on is how sweaty my hand is getting in hers, and how hot my cheeks are getting. I slowly looked back up at her and the way her hair cascades off of her shoulders is mesmerizing. And my god she smells amazing, I swear I'm getting high off of how she smells. And it's not even her perfume, it's her. Good lord this girl has me so in love with her I don't know what to do with myself. I guess maybe I could tell her. No, God no, what was I thinking? I don't want to ruin our friendship like that. I love Domi way too much to push her away and ruin what we have.

Kat: "Well that was kinda cheesy don't ya think?"

Dom: "Yeah but it worked, didn't it?"

Kat stares back at Dom for a second, her cheeks flushed, and tries to say something but can't get her mouth to form her stuttering into words, so she just looks down at her feet

Dom: "I'll take that as a yes."

Dom chuckles and smiles to herself and pulls Kat out through the front door and locks it behind them, walking Kat to the car

Dom's POV

I'm a little worried about seeing Ray today. It's probably going to take everything in me to not beat the shit out of him. I honestly didn't know it was possible to hate someone this much, but boy does he makes my blood boil. He hurt the love of my life, mentally and physically, he deserves the same, and much, much fucking worse. I swear I'd kill him myself if it didn't mean I'd have to leave Kat. For now though, I've got to push my anger down, I've got to be calm and bubbly for Kat. Putting a smile on her face always calms me down anyways.

They got in the car, and Dom drove them to the court house. The ride there was a comfortable silence, with the occasional discussion of what would happen once they got to the court house, the general answer being that they'd get there, go in and sit down, and wait for the judge to start. And that's pretty much what happened, and now they were sitting next to each other, Kat's hand in Dom's. Kat's hand was getting clammier by the minute, Dom knew she was nervous

Dom: "You okay?"

Kat took a shakey deep breath and Dom gave Kat's hand a squeeze to reassure her

Kat: "Not really. I just want this to be over already."

Kat's POV

And I'm absolutely terrified of seeing Ray again, I'm terrified of him. I want to be strong and stare him down but I just can't, I can hardly keep my head up and I'm getting lightheaded--man it's hot in here--it's getting so hard to swallow--since when was the room spinning?

Kat lost her grip on reality and fell onto Dom's shoulder

Dom: "Kat?! Are you okay what's wrong?!!"

Dom took Kat in her arms and hugged her tightly

Dom: "Baby what's wrong?!"

Dom's hug and voice brought Kat back to reality and stopped her world from spinning, Dom grounded her. Kat hugged Dom back, tightly, letting Dom know she was back. Dom separated the hug and held Kat's face in her hands, looking into her eyes

Dom: "Talk to me love, what happened?"

Kat: "I- uh- I don't know, the room just started spinning and I couldn't breathe and then you were holding me and I got a breath full of your perfume and then I could breathe again."

Dom: "Why don't you rest your head on my shoulder for the rest of this."

Kat: "Isn't that kind of unprofessional?"

Dom: "Who cares about that, your health is more important and I think leaning on me will help you."

Dom smiles and Kat doesn't say anything, she just smiles back at Dom and rests her head on Dom's shoulder. Dom puts her arm around Kat's waist and Kat does the same to Dom. Then Ray walks in and sits down on his side of the courtroom. Kat makes eye contact with him

The second my gaze met his all I could see was him on top of me again and all I could smell was my own blood and all I could hear was the dishwasher running in the other room and the smack of his fist hitting my face.

Dom squeezes Kat because Ray walked in and she figured Kat would need a reminder that she's here

I was saved from my thoughts by Dom squeezing me, reminding me that I'm not there anymore and she's got me, he can't get me anymore, not as long as she's with me.

The judge started the process and Kat tried her best to stay in the present, Dom helped her with that. Ray spoke to tell his side of the story

His voice sounded like manipulation and regret, but at least he was telling the truth this time.

After Ray finished, Kat told her side of the story. The Judge contemplated for a bit and spoke with the Jury, and then they found Ray guilty of aggravated assault. The judge sentenced Ray to 12 years in prison and Kat was given everything in the divorce, the house, Bernie, everything. Kat had won. Finally.
