Thursday finally came.
And I could finally breathe. Seriously, I mean I was quiet at the dinner table each night, I quietly smiled to myself making my Mom, Dad and - of course - Drea look at me and ask, "Why are you smiling?"
And I just shook my head and said, "Nothing... just happy."
And then they'd just stare at me.
"You really should sit down now.." Mom said as she opened the closet and shuffled some hung clothes.
She was right. I'd been walking about in her room for almost half hour now, unable to bear the excitement oozing out of my eyes.
I blushed a light shade of pink and grinned The Smiler. "I can't."
Mom smiled as she shook her head. "You are my exact duplicate when it comes to such situations."
I smiled. That was the sweetest thing ever. I just loved to resemble my Mom in any aspect. Given that it's always on the positive side. Since my Mom did no one bad. Even Granny Doreen - a.k.a Dad's Mum - loved Mom so much. Trust me, that woman died, and died with the hatred for so many people in her heart....except for us, of course.
"Mom?" I said.
"You look beautiful, honey." She said for what seemed to be the hundredth time.
I laughed as I shook my head. "I wasn't gonna ask you that."
She turned around and gave me a sarcastic look.
"Okay I was. But right at the moment, I was gonna ask something else." I said, grinning.
"Ask away.." she said waving a hand at me and turning around, shuffling the closet clothes again.
"Did you find it easy to love Dad?" I asked.
She froze. "I uh... what do you mean?"
"I mean was it easy to support your love for Dad?" I pushed. This was supposed to be an uncomfortable topic for Mom. Since Mom had always been called names. They even called her "money hungry" for marrying Dad.
I mean, even the words are funny... money hungry.. Seriously, people?
"No... not entirely. But I must say, um.. your Granny Doreen was my strongest support." My Mom said.
I don't know but then and there, I had this feeling of not continuing the discussion. I thought that it was rather useless. Did I not believe Mom?
**********
Going in my room just ten minutes before five, I felt my heart banging on my ribs as if wanting to get out.
Shut up. That's not true. Now why would I want to get out? My heart asked. I mean, I'd simply die outside, no?
Oh shut up. My conscience slapped my heart and showed it a lame face.
I looked at my reflection in the full length mirror. I looked um... good. I was wearing a yellow dress.
See? 'Dress'... this woman... my conscience shook her head. What do you want her to do, eh? She wears jeans, you taunt her for being a guy... she wears a dress, you get pissed.... urgh. My brain said. My heart just gaped at the dress, grinning while my conscience just pouted.
