Heyy! ^-^
Two chapters! ^-^ BIG surprise! :D
"He what?! " I shouted.
Woaaa nigga calm down. My conscience said.
"Shh!" Mum hushed me. "Keep it low." She whispered.
I showed her a lame face. "How am I supposed to 'keep it low '??" I shouted in whisper.
Mom lightly facepalmed. She shook her head.
"This is so unfair." I pouted.
"Peyton, he's your father. " Mom bulged her eyes at me.
"So?" I bulged my eyes back at her.
"So he can ground you whenever he feels like." Drea sang as she entered my room.
"You!" I snapped my fingers at her. "Get out."
She openmouthedly stared at me.
Applause, please. I invented a new word there.
"Peyton.. calm d--" Mom broke off as I cut in.
"Why?"
"What do you mean why?" She asked, confused.
"You tell me. " I hissed.
My answer was silence.
"Andrea, get. Out." I said through gritted teeth.
The look on her face was priceless. She was shocked. It was the face I saw when I'd told her to go inside the house when I'd first met...
Nick.
Nick. My boyfriend.
Nick. The guy who was still downstairs in my house, talking to my dad. The guy who hadn't left since lunchtime. For me.
Drea left my room, closing the door slowly.
"That was surprising." Mom sighed, raising her brows.
It never gets old. My conscience smirked.
"So what am I supposed to do now?" I asked.
"You wait here. May be he changes his m-"
"I doubt that." I cut in.
"Well... Nick is trying to convince him." Mom scratched her forehead like a five year old.
"Dad saw us together. After I misbehaved with him in front of Nick." I said, helplessly holding my head.
"Well you were the one with the great idea." Mom sarcasmed as she took a shirt of mine from the chair and folded it.
"Drea was being so stupid. I hate her for that." I said.
"She is your sister." Mom said lightly, putting the folded shirt in my wardrobe.
"Was. " I snapped.
"Now Peyton..."
"It's not my fault she loves to be hated." I protested. "She does things to make it impossible to not hate her."
"That's not true." Mom said.
"Really? When's the last time she did something 'sisterly'? Or just humane ?" I shouted in whisper.
"You never know... she must be outside. Listening." Mom said casually.
"Like that's humane." I rolled my eyes.
"Of course it is. Everyone does it. One day or the other." Mom said.
"Well, if she is out there.... she may go to hell." I spat.
"Enough Peyton!" Mom whispered aloud. "Stop saying such things. She is only ten years old!" Mom said.
I messed with my nose.
"DIANA!" came the thundering voice of my Dad.
"Duty calls..." my Mom sighed as she went out of my room.
About half a minute later, she poked her head in. "He's calling you."
I goosebumped.
"Okay." I swallowed.
Bish imma be goin fo' a lil nap. 'Kay? My conscience said with a shaky voice. Coward. My heart said to her. I'll side with Mr. Heart on that. My brain said. Urgh. You both go fudge yourselves. My conscience snapped.
******
"This chap here," Dad threw an arm around Nick's neck. "...passes the test." He said with a hearty laugh.
That took time to dissolve.
When it did, I jumped on Dad and hugged him hard screaming with joy. He hugged back. "I love you!" I said.
Then without even noticing, I jumped on Nick and hugged him too. When I let go, we kissed.
Wait. What?
I pulled back. I must've been blazing in red. My hand was on my mouth. Nick was chuckling.
What the hell made me do that?
All three inner voices of mine highfived.
You.... I narrowed my eyes at them.
Bish you guessed it! My conscience said in the familiar tone. Whooooh! My brain said. You was right... my heart added.
I looked at Mom and Dad. Dad was a little uncomfortable and shocked. Mom was teary eyed.
What the shemurr? My conscience said, making the shemurr face.
"Can I take her outside now?" Nick asked with a face splitting grin.
"Sure, son." Dad said, throwing an arm around Mom's shoulders.
Son?! My conscience gasped.
Son?! My brain exclaimed.
Sun?! My heart asked.
You got it wrong, kid. My brain shook its head at my heart.
*********
"So what did you tell him?" I asked, sitting beside Nick, dipping my feet in the lake water like him.
Don't get me wrong. My Dad owns this golf club that has an artificial lake too. I took Nick there.
"I told him something very convincing." He smirked at me.
"Gee thanks. I could never have guessed such a thing." I showed him a lame face.
He chuckled. I loved his laugh.
Nigga you sound like a girl.. my conscience puffed.
"Does it matter? He's okay with... us. " he said, putting his hand on mine.
Us. I sighed.
"What?" He said. His tone was silky.
"Nothing.... I mean.. does it matter if you just tell me?" I asked.
Bitchy, witchy curiosity.
"Yes." He smiled.
"Really?" I was confused. For real.
"Yes."
"Why?"
"You'll see." He smirked.
"That means..?" I showed him a lame face.
"Means that we have our lives ahead of us. And you'll know what I told him when the right time comes." He made a tighter grip on my hand.
Our lives ahead of us. Nick was being romantic. And somehow, it was bothering me.
What if I didn't meet with his expectations?
