Driving back home with Mom sitting beside me all quiet and sniffing was what I hated. Not that it usually happened. But I had come to hate it the second minute that passed as I drove on. She was looking out the window and after every two minutes, blew her nose in a tissue and sniffed.
"Look ahead. You're godda get us killed." My Mom broke the silence with her runny nose voice. She was trying to lighten up the mood, but it only made me angrier. She just couldn't stop trying.
"I would if you stop crying and tell me how you're gonna beat Dad." I said, fiercely looking at the road.
She giggled. Fake.
"I diddut bead to braidwash you about hib." She croaked.
"Well I still love him. But that doesn't mean I don't love you. We need justice at home." I stopped at a signal and looked at her. She was smiling at me. Like for real.
"You're growing up." She grinned.
The lights went green so I hit the gas. I felt a strange tingle in my cheeks. Crap. I was grinning.
"Well we'll see about that when we get home." I said after clearing my throat.
"Oh I'd like to dow." She rolled her eyes.
Did she just.... my conscience said.
"Sometimes you act like Drea." I sighed.
True dat. My conscience said. That was my inference. Thanks for copying. My brain said proudly. But Drea was different today, okay? My heart said, folding his arms.
"Oh shut up. I ab dot that bad." She chuckled.
What? My conscience said.
What? My brain said.
What? My heart said.
I gave her a look.
She chuckled again. "I do love her, okay?"
LIES. My conscience puffed. She's her mom, like she's got a choice. My brain rolled its eyes. Aw c'mon. Drea isn't all that bad. My heart said. He got disgusted looks from both my conscience and brain. Okay I should shut up. My heart said, sulking in the corner.
"Well you're her Mom. I give you that." I grinned. "But it's real funny that the only person who loves her is her mother." And then I got a fit of laughter.
My Mom hit my shoulder. "Shut up!" She said, enjoying some laugh herself.
"Oww!" I faked, slowing down near the gates of our castle.
Er, I mean, house.
Bish be swaggin.. My conscience rolled her eyes.
My Mom got out of my car and stretched. So did I. Not because it was a long journey. But because she'd been crying and was in need of some rest and I, well... I'm just lazy so, that's reason enough. Hehe.
