Ch. 36 Telling the Fourth Hokage

"Captain, if I may, I'd like Lady Tsunade to have a look at him. She's a better medic than I am so I don't think it could really hurt. Also, as it is now, I don't think I have enough chakra to heal all the wounds he suffered from his mission. If I do, I think I'll just land myself in Konoha's hospital. I'll do what I can but I can't promise you or anyone anything, Captain. Now, if that's all, I'd like to have my full attention on my patient," I replied. I heard him sigh again but he didn't say another word.

Present

I had finally finished healing any of the major wounds I had found and had managed to stop the ANBU's internal bleeding. I barely had any chakra left. I was panting and my clothes stuck to my body because of my own sweat. It wasn't easy healing him. I took a few deep breaths and stood up. I looked around me. About fifteen ANBU were hovering near the entrance of the medical wing. I waved them over.

"Make sure he doesn't code. Check his vitals at least every ten minutes if not sooner. He has a fever now so try and cool him down enough that he won't die from the fever. If he wakes up or starts coding, get me or a high level medic like Tsunade. Switch watching over him every four hours. At least three of you should stay here at all times. Understood?" I questioned.

"If I may ask ma'am, where will you be?" A female ANBU asked.

"Sleeping. Report directly to the Captain if anything noteworthy happens. He'll know where to find me," I replied.

"Yes, ma'am," the ANBU said. They started dividing up into teams of three as I left in search of the Captain and the Hokage. I went to the Captain's office first and found both the Hokage and the Captain there.

"Lord Fourth, Captain," I greeted, bowing. "I apologize for the delay. As of now, I have stabilized the ANBU and set up a continuous watch between about fifteen ANBU medics with the instruction to report to the Captain should anything noteworthy happen as well as if a high ranking medic is needed."

"Who are you?" Lord Fourth asked.

"I'm sorry, but what do you mean?" I asked.

"Tell me your surname, Rin," He demanded. I sighed in defeat. I figured he'd want to know my surname but I didn't think he'd ask this soon. I didn't really have a choice if I wanted to stay in the village.

"I doubt you'll believe me but it's Nohara," I said. Neither lost their composure but I could tell Lord Fourth was angry. I pulled down the mask covering the bottom half of my face and looked Lord Fourth in the eyes.

"You... You're...." He trailed off, eyes wide.

"Yeah... Sorry for not telling you sooner. I didn't know how you would react so I just kept everything about before a secret," I said, looking at the ground.

"Rin?" Lord Fourth asked.

"Hm?" I hummed and looked up. Lord Fourth walked up to me and placed a hand on my cheek.

"You're actually alive... I... I thought I lost you too," he said.

"I thought I was done for too, but I got lucky. It's just good to be back, ya know?" I asked.

"This is real... right? It's not just some sick dream?" He asked.

"This is real, sensei. I'm okay," I replied. He enveloped me in a bone crushing hug a moment later. I could feel his body shake slightly as he tried to hold back his tears.

"Thank Kami you're okay," He whispered.

"It's okay to cry, ya know," I whispered to him.

"A Kage isn't supposed to cry, Rin," He replied.

"Crying is part of what makes you human, sensei. People cry because the heart gets heavy," I said. After a few moments, I felt the fabric of my shirt start to dampen.  His body was shaking slightly but he didn't make a sound as he cried. After a few minutes, Lord Fourth pulled back and wiped his tears with the back of his hand.

"Rin... how?" He asked.

"Well... I don't think you're gonna believe me and I'm not entirely sure of any of this myself. Anyway, I think this plant guy that's two different colors named Zetsu saved me. I'm not entirely sure though because I was in a coma for about a month. Last thing I remember is seeing a shadow go across my vision and hoping that whatever or whoever that shadow was wasn't an enemy," I replied. Lord Fourth sighed.

"You were right about me not entirely believing you. I will, however, be a bit more lenient with you than I will your friend," he said. I smirked.

"Knowing him, he's already far out of the village," I said.

"How?" Lord Fourth asked.

"His kekkai genkai," I replied. Obito had always been good at escaping places he didn't want to be and with his Sharingan, escaping would be even easier.

"Kekkai genkai?" The Captain asked.

"Yes, sir. It comes in handy when he wants to escape a place like Konoha or go somewhere quickly. It's a time space technique similar to the one Lord Fourth uses and the reason Lord Fourth was nicknamed the Yellow Flash," I explain. "Because of this technique, my friend is able to go from Konoha to the Land of Iron in mere moments."

"How can such a technique exist?" The Captain asked.

"Simple. His kekkai genkai is the Sharingan," I replied. Lord Fourth's eyes widen in shock.

"Obito..." he whispered.

"Sadly, I made a blood bind with my friend saying I wouldn't tell anyone his name or much information about him and vise versa. What I've told you is as much as I know. The rest you'll have to figure out on your own. The only thing besides Lord Fourth's technique that's similar to my friend's is Kakashi's Sharingan, but I don't know how much help that'll be," I remark.

"We'll do what we can, Rin. For now, though, I have to arrest you," the Captain said.

"Figured you would say that at some point," I said and pulled up my mask. Lord Fourth Flashed out of the room as the Captain stood up. I turned toward the door and made my way out of his office with the Captain a few steps behind me.
