"I've been told stories about the people in Helheim being bloodthirsty and cruel. It made me worry about what would happen to you if you were alone," Kakashi explained. I nodded in understanding.
Present
We had gone to bed a few hours after the conversation I had with Kakashi. Tonight was the final night of our mission and the festival the Raikage had planned. I was worried about it but I hadn't let myself dwell on the what ifs for long. I heaved a heavy sigh. I seemed to be doing that a lot lately. I was taken out of my thoughts when a soft tapping sounded at the window.
I looked over and saw a small messenger bird sitting outside. It tapped on the glass again and hopped a few times on the window sill. I walked over to the window and opened enough for the bird to hop inside. I took the message off of its back and unrolled it. I read the message. Once, twice, thrice. It was from Lucifer to Kami, his supposed sibling that I guess wasn't his sibling by blood?
There was a second letter attached. I unfolded the letter. It was addressed to me, surprisingly enough. It read, I do not know how you managed to convince my Parabatai to write me the letter I have now sent you, but please read it and respond to this letter at your earliest convenience, Ice. - Kami
It was short and to the point. I wasn't sure how to respond to it. I sighed and read the other letter Kami had sent again. It read, I know this is not something you were likely expecting, Kami. We have not been in contact in years. I know you are unlikely to talk to me after all these years but please just hear me out. There is a child from the prophecy we were told about a few centuries ago in Helheim. She had taken the title of God of War from Ares. If you never reply I understand. But... Please, Kami. I miss talking to my Parabatai. - Lucifer
I hadn't thought he would actually send a letter like I had suggested. I looked down at the messenger bird again and saw it had an almost indistinguishable paleness to it. It was almost as if an incredibly strong glamor had been placed over an Odin Raven from Loki's time. I summoned a piece of paper and a pen to write back to Kami about the letter.
I simply wrote, Please, write him back. He wouldn't write if he didn't want to have a relationship with you. The Parabatai bond is sacred, Kami. If you have any information about the prophecy, I would also advise you to tell him. I believe he deserves to know, but the decision is solely yours. - Ice
I heard the soft shuffling of feet behind me as I rolled up the letter and attacked it to the messenger bird's back. I sent it back out through the window before turning around to see Asuma, Kurenai, and Kakashi stumbling out of their rooms. I sent the letters from Kami to my place in Helheim. I had to focus on the mission in front of me before worrying about the affairs of the other realms.
"Did Kami tell you about receiving a letter from Lucifer?" I asked Kakashi in the Old Language. He nodded once.
"It feels like we're being excluded whenever you do that, Rin-chan," Kurenai said.
"It's a complicated language to learn, Ku-chan," I said softly.
"It sounds complicated," Asuma muttered.
"Come on," I said, motioning all three of them over to the door with a wave of my hand. "There's something I want to do before tonight."
"You mean before we have to put on a show?" Tamlin questioned. I looked over at him and saw he had glamoured himself to look human.
"Nice glamour. And yes, before the show. This mission has been quite a whirlwind of emotions. We might as well have a bit of fun before the event," I answered.
