"I am to leave once the child is born," I replied, brushing past the shocked faces and slipping into the basement to move the boat.
Present
I started sanding down a few pieces of wood after moving the boat to the sea. Initially, I had started to work to get my mind off of the Obito encounter. Sadly, it wasn't really working as well as I had hoped.
That had been nearly two weeks ago now and I still couldn't get his words out of my head. I had already made enough food and pastries to feed a few dozen people. I had also finished most of what Kushina and Minato's kid would need. I still hadn't been able to get out of my own head and it was getting even more frustrating every day it lasted.
"Still stuck in your own head?" Kakashi asked from the stairs.
"I wouldn't be down here if I wasn't, boy," I replied.
"You haven't eaten yet, have you?" He asked.
"I don't remember," I replied bluntly.
"Come on," Kakashi said, coming over to take my hand.
"I really need to give you something to do," I grumbled as he led me up the stairs.
"Eat first and think about that later," he said.
"Fine," I said dejectedly.
"You act like taking care of yourself is hard," Kakashi said.
"It is when you can't get out of your own head," I replied.
"We'll work on it together, okay?" He asked.
"Yeah," I agreed, sliding into a seat at the counter while Kakashi opened the fridge.
"How much did you make?" He asked.
"Far too much for one person," I replied.
"I can see that," Kakashi said.
"You want to take anything for yourself?" I asked.
"I will. Anything in particular you want?" He asked.
"You pick," I replied.
"Okay," he said slowly.
"You're worried," I said.
"I am," he replied, pulling out miso ramen.
"One reason or many?" I asked.
"A few," Kakashi replied.
"One of them is Kushina, one of them is me, and one is if I'm going to be okay when I leave?" I asked.
"Yeah. I don't want you to go," he said softly, putting the ramen into a bowl and then into the microwave to heat it.
"I don't want to go either," I said softly.
"Will you?" He asked.
"If I have to," I replied.
"Be careful and stay in touch, okay?" Kakashi requested.
"I will as long as you do the same," I replied. The microwave beeped and Kakashi pulled the bowl from inside before setting it on the counter.
"You never did tell me what your Rune was," I said, blowing on my ramen as Kakashi handed me a pair of chopsticks.
"Wedded Union," he said so softly I barely heard him.
