Ch. 44 Seeing the Elders Again

Previously

"I have, sir. I still need to improve it drastically, though. It takes up a lot of chakra to fire off just one shot and is too heavy to use for long periods of time. I have the basics here, sir, but it isn't the best thing out there," I replied.

Present

"Oh really?" Minato asked.

"Yes, sir," I replied. I had barely explained the basics of what I wanted to do but to do them was going to take some time. I still needed to figure out what gears would work better on the inner workings and a whole lot of other things before I could even start changing my scythe.

It was going to take a while but I could manage it. I think. I'm not entirely sure I could but I was sure as hell going to try. I might even be able to use my scythe to mess with Tiger because he didn't know about it.

Pranking him would have to wait until after the Jounin exams, though. I still had a lot to do before I could even think about pranking Tiger let alone anyone else. I sighed and started folding up my scythe.

I sealed it into the scroll it was in before and stretched my arms over my head. I rolled my shoulders a bit afterward. I heard the leaves rustle above us and looked up. Lord Third was standing on a branch with barely contained anger clear in his eyes.

"How?" He asked.

"I'm sorry sir, but your going to have to be more specific," I replied.

"You hit the orb dead center and cut off all communication between you and the Elders. How?" He elaborated.

"I've always been decent at detecting chakra signatures. This was a simple matter of locating a chakra source and using my chakra to destroy the source I found. It's really quite a simple task once you get the hang of it, Lord Third," I replied.

"Child, the Elders aren't taking kindly to this. They want to see you immediately," Lord Third said.

"Very well, sir. I will be there momentarily," I replied, crouching down to jump up into the trees. Lord Third sighed and retreated back into the trees. I followed him a few moments later. I was getting lost in my own thoughts and I wasn't really paying attention to where I was going when I felt an arm wrap around my waist. I was staring at the Hokage's office a second later, hovering a few inches off the ground.

"So you managed to find out where Hiruzen had put the orb, hm?" Koharu asked.

"Yes, ma'am," I replied. I had started to relax a bit when I got dropped on the floor.

"You should be more prepared, Ice," Minato remarked, amusement lacing his words.

"If I got dropped on my face more often, Lord Fourth, I would be. As that isn't an everyday occurrence, I'm not as prepared as I would be for a fight," I replied, getting into a sitting position on the floor.

"Watch your tongue, brat," Danzo snapped at me.

"I've told you before to call me Ice, Lord Shimura. Please do so. It gets tiring hearing someone call you something you really aren't," I replied, deathly calm. I could feel Minato's eyes boring into the back of my skull. He knew I was about to snap when I spoke with a deathly calm.

"How did you do it?" Homuro asked.

"I looked for the chakra source and hit it with a concentrated ball of my own," I replied.

"Show us," Koharu demanded.

"I'm going to have to decline, ma'am. Currently, I don't have enough chakra to create another chakra burst," I said. In reality, I was lying through my teeth. I could fire off two rounds a day but that would take up almost all of my chakra. I didn't want to take the chance of dying so soon after the war. The Leaf didn't have many ninja left because of it.

"How much chakra does that thing take?" Homuro asked, shock lacing his voice.

"About half of my total chakra. It would be a stretch, but I could do another burst today if you would really like me to," I replied. I wanted out and I never wanted to see them again. It would be too soon after a few millennia, if not the next eternity. I looked at the three Elders with cold eyes.

"You really expect us to believe what some brat says?" Danzo asked. That was the last straw for me. I slowly stood up and made myself seem taller than I actually was.

"You really expect me to have no knowledge of being cold blooded? Or of being ignorant to how the human body works? Or knowing how to concoct something not even a trained ninja like Tsunade can detect?" I questioned, my anger increasing rapidly. It started in the pit of my stomach and flowed through my entire body so that after a few moments, all I could feel was an unending and uncontrollable rage.

"Ice..." Minato warned.

"You really think I'm some ignorant child that knows nothing of sacrifice, Danzo? Is that the kind of person you think I am?" I questioned.

"What does it matter if you can't even control your own emotions?" Danzo spat. I lowered my head and started chuckling. Before long my chuckling turned into a full fledged laughed. I wiped an imaginary tear off my face.

"That's rich. You don't even know who I am and yet you think I don't know any self control. There's one think you really ought to keep in mind, Danzo," I said, my deathly calm tone returning.

"Hm?" Danzo grunted.

"I have a mental list of about fifty rules that I go by. They aren't the shinobi rules or the village rules. They're the ones I created. If you ever heard stories, then you might know about them. If not, then this is new to you. Rule 16 is 'If someone thinks they have the upper hand, break it.' I might end up quoting a few of the others to you at one point or another but for now that should do. If that is all, am I able to leave? I still have a job to do, Lord Shimura," I said.

"If the other Elders and Hokage agree, I'd like to put you under arrest for insubordination," Danzo said.

"How was I insubordinate to you when I don't report to you?" I asked.

"She is correct, Danzo," Homuro said.

"You are free to go, Ice," Minato said.

"Thank you, sir. If I am needed, I'll be over in the ANBU or collecting herbs," I said and shun shinned out of his office and to the medical wing of the ANBU.

"So you finally decided to show up, hm?"
