I start to slowly flutter my eyes open as I hear the sound of something loud crashing and most likely breaking against the floor. I sit straight up and look around but no ones in my room, so the sound must have come from next door in Parker's room. What the fuck was he doing?

*CRASH*

I jump up out of my bed and throw on some sweatpants because it's freezing cold in the house right now. I look over to my clock to see it's only 3 am. It's Monday what is Parker doing up at this hour? There's no way he is just now getting home because he said goodnight to me when he in.

I walk towards the door and just as I'm about to open it.

*CRASH*

Okay seriously? WHAT THE FUCK? Are we being robbed? I gotta know whats going on. I slowly crack the door open and peek out and I see Parker's door is cracked open a little and I can see him pacing back and forth. I see him throwing clothes around and other stuff as if he is looking for something. I open the door all the way and walk towards his door. I lightly knock on the exposed bit of doorway.

"Opal? Why are you up? I thought you went to bed?" He says quickly rushing over to me.

"I heard a bunch of crashing noises and it freaked me out. Why are you still up?" I ask looking at him, he has a look of panic spread across his face. He opens the door just a tiny crack more and steps out. He puts his finger to his lips and signals me to stay quiet.

"Opal. Stay here." He whispers.

I start to get the sense that he has the same idea as I did. Are we really getting robbed right now? I look him in the eyes, trying to get an idea of what his plan is. He goes back into his room and resurfaces in less than a minute with a bat. I stare at him as he heads towards the stairs. He turns back to me.

"Opal, go in your room and lock the door." He says glancing over the railing. "If someone's in the house, I need you to call the police."

"And how exactly will I know if someone's in the house if I'm cooped up in my room?" I whisper-yell at him. Looks like he didn't think this through very much.

"Just do it! I don't need you getting hurt. The person could be armed." He says, his desperation just radiating through the atmosphere. I look at him and shake my head but I nevertheless, do what he says.

I turn to walk towards my room as he tip-toes down the stairs. I glance back at the stairs once more before I close my door and lock it. I grab my cell phone before taking a seat on the foot of my bed. What exactly is supposed to be my cue that there is or isn't a robber?

"OPAL!!!" I hear Parkers voice scream before I hear what sounds like a gunshot.

Oh, dear Lord. What the hell am I supposed to do? I unlock my phone and dial 911. Right as I'm about to hit the call button, my doorknob starts shaking violently. Oh shit, oh shit. The person is going to kill me now.

"Opal! Open the damn door!" I hear Parker's voice whisper through the door. I jump up onto my feet, shove my phone back in my pocket and run to the door. I unlock it and swing it open.

"Close it, quickly." Parker says as he limps over to my bed.

"Oh my God, are you shot?!" I whisper-yell as I rush over to him.

"No, the bullet just grazed me is all. I'll be fine but we need to get out of here and call the police." He says looking around my room.

"What are you looking for?" I ask confused, glancing around my room as well.

"Something to help us get out of here." He huffs.

"Get your phone out. Call the cops." He says giving in after a few minutes. I pull out my phone again and unlock it once again before hitting the call button.
