Been super busy (and distracted) lately sorry. To make up for it, I'm going to do a double upload today.
"Well, how about we take you to the doctors for a checkup?" the officer offered the girl rhetorically.
The girl was still and Delilah stood up.
"Are you coming as well?" he asked her.
"Actually, I have a missing person to report, but I will come back later," she said.
"I'm sorry to hear that and I hope you find them," he said.
The girl looked at Delilah sadly but she couldn't stay. She stood up and made her way back to the front desk.
"Hello again. I hope that helped. Will that be all?" the lady greeted.
"No, I actually want to file a missing persons report. My sister has been missing since Saturday morning and she didn't give any notice," Delilah started.
"Oh gosh, let me get the papers.
She noticed the officer and the girl walking past her to the exit, continuing out of sight. The lady wheeled back around with forms in hand.
"Just fill these out the best you can and we'll look into it. I hope she turns up."
"Thanks."
Delilah took the forms and a pen over to some chairs and began to fill them out. Once she finished, she was informed on the process. When she left, she headed over to the hospital, hoping to catch them. She walked in to see the officer finish signing something.
"How did it go?" Delilah asked.
"They can't find anything wrong and they're going to keep her overnight. They also don't know what's wrong with her voice," he explained. "Now I'm not saying this is the case -but if it is- be prepared that she may be lying."
Delilah nodded. I mean, it made sense... kinda. Who would practice black magic? Want to hurt her? It was all a little far-fetched but something pestered her. Some deep aspect that was definitely true which Delilah couldn't pinpoint.
She shook the crowded thoughts from her head. She had been doing that lately, deeply analyzing nothing for no reason. It was some magic, rooted in the air to the south that stressed her out. She should light some incense when she gets back. Lynn had always complained it gave her headaches but technically she wasn't home right now. This thought sent chills down Delilah's spine and she felt heavy with guilt.
"Do you wish to remain in the loop if there are any developments?" the officer asked, stealing her attention once more.
"Uh, yeah. If they can't find her home for a while, we may be able to take care of her too," Delilah suggested.
"Really?" There was a tone of disbelief in his voice.
"Well I'd have to check back with everyone else but I think so."
"Alright. Anyways, have a nice day," he finished, strolling away towards the station.
Delilah paused, then squinted through the window at the bell tower in the center of town. She could just barely make out the hands of the clock as the bell rang. Twelve times, for noon. How was it noon already? She made her way towards the supermarket where Kyle was getting out for lunch.
Kyle sat on the park bench, unpacking his bag when a voice called.
"Hey! Sorry I'm late," Delilah apologized, huffing.
"What took you so long?" he jested.
"I had to enter a missing persons report and then went to check up on the girl." She sat beside him and began pulling out her bag.
