I call up an old friend of mine, her name is Amber. We had a falling out but we never really turned to hating each other so we just let the bad blood dry and stopped talking to each other. When she finally picks up I hear a soft British accent on the other end of the line, "Can I help you Caleb or are you here to release your cold torrent of emotionlessness and brutality?"
"Hey... Amber, look I'm sorry about all those years ago... I just... I have been hurt a few too many times as I'm sure you're aware and... you just happened to get caught up on the middle of it all."
"It's all good Cal, but I get the feeling you ain't just calling to make up with me are you 'ol chap?"
"I'm afraid not, I need you once again... I have an awful feeling about someone I know and you're one of the people I trust the most. So... want to help an old friend out?"
"What do you mean "want?" Of course I'll help you out. I'll be over in about an hour and a half, same house right?"
"Yup and... thanks Amber. You're the best."
"Aww, don't mention it Cal, just keep your chin up till I get there."
"Alright, thank Amber."
"Not a problem, see you soon." And with that she hung up as the silence hits and my brain hits overdrive.
Half an hour later I hear a knock on the door and head over, "Coming," I say loud enough to be heard as I open the door and see Amber. Her white hair, calm look, white dress, and sweet smile as I welcome her with a hug. "It's good to see you again Amber, good to see you still look as adorable as ever."
"Put a sock in it Cal before I put a sock in it for you," She retorted playfully.
I chuckle softly and explain everything that happened at the party and how the cops acted strange and how Jewlian has been. Amber gave me an annoyed look, "You mean to tell me that you were gunning for another girl when you already had me? How could you you jerk."
I roll my eyes at her comment, "Yes, how could I? My best friend went dead silent on me and it's my fault that I wanted to find someone else."
She giggles softly and cutely, "That's right you scrawny jerk," she said then suddenly got serious, "but I do agree that something is going on with that girl. She is unnaturally obsessive and clingy to you despite your cold attitude towards her. She's even obedient about it but more than likely will be loving towards another guy to try and make you jealous then come back to her so whatever she tries, don't go back to her."
"Heh, look who you're talking to. I have a record of not returning to girls after they piss me off."
She laughs a bit, "Then after a while you go back and apologize to them and return to being friends. It's the same old same old with you Caleb."
She smiles and ruffles my hair, "But it's good to see and hear you again Caleb. I was beginning to think that you'd never come back and say hi to me. Guess it's a good thing I didn't block or delete your number huh?"
"Yeah, that would've been embarrassing or even awkward."
"Yeah, I always knew you needed me," she smirks a bit, "after all you can't do anything right without me."
She teases me like this all the time, ever since we first met she was always the sweetest but most teasing person I knew. She'd always joke that I'd never get anyone but when I'd break down she'd always show her true personality and would hug me. There was one time where she kissed me and told me that she loved me but I asked her the next day about it and she refuted that she had ever said such a thing. To this day I'm not sure whether I like her or whether I see her platonically but there is one thing I know and that's that I can always count on Amber. "Whatever you say Amby," I smirk as I tease her with her nickname and she becomes bright red.
"Hey! I told you not to call me that! It's an embarrassing nickname..."
"But it fits you with how cute you are. Come on, you call me Cal all the time so you deserve a nickname." I tease.
"Yeah shut up Cal, you've always been such a numb-nuts." She gently punches my shoulder as she laughs softly. I laugh a bit with her and smile as we talk about a few things and catch up on what we missed about one another.
