"Hey Amber."
"Yeah? What's up Cal?" She was nonchalantly eating some chips of mine despite me saying don't eat them. She's always been like that but only about the little things.
"Did you ever notice that Jewlian has always been there for me? Since day one it seems."
She thinks about it then slowly nods, "Yeah... yeah you're right... woah, I never realized that. Way to go, you actually got brains."
"As retort full as ever I see," I say, rolling my eyes, "and, get this, she invited me to that party. She didn't want to let me go out into the woods but I went anyways. It's almost as though she knew something would happen or I'd find something out."
Amber nods as she looks at me seriously, "We need to disconnect from her, move away and just forget about her. You got lucky, but if she finds out that you know then you might not be so lucky next time.." her expression softens some as she speaks a little softer, "Just run away with me.."
I blink, honestly quite stunned and even more shocked at her suggestion. She had never been so forward with things like this, we had always joked about exploring the world but I knew that I couldn't just leave. Jewlian might trick other people and try to manipulate them into doing what she wants. "I'm sorry Amber... we need to stop Jewlian... once and for all. I won't just run away and leave her to corrupt others or kill indiscriminately."
Amber scoffed as she gained her normal gaze once more, "You've always been that way Cal... it's what makes you, you.." she smiles a little, a tear running down her cheek, "I'll help you... if you die then I want to die fighting alongside you."
I was once again shocked to see Amber cry. She never really let things get to her, so I reached out and gently wipes away her tear, "Hey... you remember that time you kissed me and told me you love me?"
Amber looked at me, confusion in her eyes, "No? I would never say something like that." She looked at me then smirked, "You must've dreamt it up." She snickers as she teases me, "Never knew you had those feelings for me Cal." She says in a teasing tone.
I subtly look away, a faint blush forming, "I didn't dream it up... it actually happened.. but I think I know why you don't remember... Jewlian might've made you forget, like she convinced the guards to free me." I say softly then look back at Amber, "Once we kill that thing then... would you go on a date with me?"
At that Amber becomes heated, "What?!" She exclaimed.
"Ow, Amber, please don't yell... you're right in front of me..." I had flinched a little from her sudden shout.
"O-oh, Sorry Cal..." She looks down, her face a hot mess as she looks back up at me, "Yeah... I'll go on a date with you." She says with her sweet and kind smile.
I smile some, "Should we get something to eat before we go play around with death?"
Amber laughs softly, "You mean eat your trash cooking? No thanks, I'd rather die to your obsessive ex." She teases, laughing and smiling happily.
I laugh along with her as I smirk, "Then I'd like to see your cooking if you think you're that much better."
She meets my challenge, "Alright then, you're on." She jumps up off the floor then heads to the kitchen and starts cooking.
I smile as I get up and go to my room, grabbing an old combat knife of mine, "Never thought I'd need this." I had gotten it when I was young as something to mess around with, the deal was that my parents got me this knife and I couldn't ask for another. Nonetheless I sit down and start sharpening the knife. After about half an hour I can smell Amber's cooking as I blink, "When did she become so good at cooking?" I ask myself quietly. Without even thinking, I set down the knife and whetstone as I head to the kitchen and peak in, blushing faintly upon seeing Amber in the apron and cooking happily. She was humming a soft little tune I had taught her forever ago, something dumb that I just made up and thought it was cool at the time.
