i tapped my fingers on my desk, anxiously waiting for the bell to ring. it was thursday, we were going to have a three day weekend, silly, but i was excited. i usually hang out with my best friends during the weekend, it's an adventure.
i stared at the clock as my teacher babbled about something from the past, history wasn't my best subject. i honestly couldn't care about it.
one more minute, then we're out. i turned my head to look at my best friend, andrea, she looked at me with excitement in her eyes. we've made plans to go to the mall with our other three friends. we, obviously, were very excited.
the bell rang, i immediately grabbed my history binder, shoving it into my book bag. andrea and i walked out of the classroom as fast as we could. as i entered the hallway, indistinct chatter filled my ears as we pass the students. "why does karen keep nagging sam to hang out? look, she's right there." andrea pointed over to sam, my other best friend, and this girl karen.
karen was a sweet girl, but very persistent and stubborn. she's had a crush on sam since the seventh grade, and won't stop bothering him. she's tried to be in our friend group, but it's fun just being the five of us.
i chuckled, shrugging my shoulders. "she's in love with him. you know this." i nudged her arm. we made a stop to mine and andrea's locker, which were conveniently next to each other. sam's locker was next to mine as well.
"hey, sam." i smiled to the boy.
his eyes widen as he slyly nudges his head towards karen's direction, who was staring right at me. "hey, karen." i smiled to her. she smiled back, "so, you guys have any plans tonight?" she asked.
i tried my hardest not to roll my eyes. "uh, yeah. our families are having dinner tonight, all of us gotta be at chad's house." i lied.
she raised an eyebrow, "all five of your families?" she asked, we nodded. "yeah, we're all very close. anyways, we gotta go. bye!" i waved, grabbing sam and andrea's arm.
"thanks." sam says, i chuckle. "no problem."
we exited the school doors, walking over to the parking lot. our other friends, chad and sheylin stood by my car. i waved at the two, a smile on my face. "hey, guys."
"ready to be stupid this weekend? cause, i am!" shey cheered, i rolled my eyes, laughing at her statement. "yes, i am."
"shotgun!" sam blurted out loudly, jumping into the front seat. i opened my car door, climbing into the passenger seat.
"i have to be stuck with these fatties back here? again?!" shey screamed at sam. sam laughed, putting his hands up in surrender. "you could've called shotgun."
-
i drove the five of us back to my house, seeing neither one of my parents were home. i was an only child, sam lives across the street from me, and andrea right next door. i grew up with them, and i met chad in sixth grade, shey in eighth.
i've been friends with andrea my whole life, her parents and mine have been best friends since their high school days. sam's mother, kristy and my mother met in college, so i've also been friends with sam my whole life.
andrea is like a sister to me, i trust her with everything and i can talk to her about anything. sam, he's just my best friend. i love him to death and he's the best friend anyone could ever ask for.
shey and chad, they're also the best friends i could ever ask for. chad, he's like a protective older brother, and shey is like another sister of mine. andrea and chad are dating, they have been since ninth grade. thanks to me, i got them together. i don't think they'll ever break up. or, at least i hope not. it would be awkward after.
i walked into the kitchen, the four following behind. "can we order some pizza?" shey asked, throwing a grape in her mouth.
i nodded, "yeah, sure. i'm gonna go change."
i quickly ran up the stairs, throwing my book bag in a random spot in my bedroom. i stripped from my tight ripped jeans to a pair of black leggings and threw a sweatshirt over my blue t-shirt. i ran back down the stairs, seeing the gang in the living room.
"what time are we going to the mall?"
"lets go at like 5:30, also i'm sleeping over." shey announced, i nodded my head. "i figured."
i took a seat next to sam, resting my head on his shoulder as chad found some random movie to put on. "how fucking hard was that chem test?" andrea asked aloud.
i felt sam chuckle, "it was pretty easy." he said.
i lifted my head, my eyes widened. "easy? i struggled so hard on number 8."
"same! what did you get?" shey asked.
"i don't even remember, i started crying during the test, it was so hard." i admitted. sam laughed at me, i furrowed my eyebrows at him, pretending i was sad.
"aw, you poor baby." he mocked my pout, wrapping his arms around my waist, pulling my body closer to his. i struggled to push myself off him, "no, you're mean." i shook my head.
"you love me." he smirked.
"that's debatable, sam."
