"let's do something. i'm so bored." andrea says, standing up from the living room couch. "let's go swimming at sam's house. is he home?"
it was the next day, sam and i haven't spoken since last night. after i somewhat lashed out on him, he hasn't made an effort to speak to me. i shrugged my shoulders, "probably."
"why are you being so weird?" chad poked my shoulder.
i gave him a dirty look, "i'm not?"
"you seem upset." shey says from across the room. i shake my head, putting on a smile, "i'm not."
"well, chad and i will be right back. i'm going to put on my bathing suit. shey, need a ride?"
shey nods, "please."
-
i quickly shoved my bathing suit in my bag, a small towel and other random things. i put the straps on my shoulders and walk upstairs. my parents weren't home, as usual. i exit my house, walking across the street to sam's.
i knocked on the door, hoping sam would answer. and with my luck, he does. "hi." he smiles shortly.
i gave a small smile, "hi."
"andrea wants to come over and swim." i stated, "i'm obviously just here first."
"can we talk?"
i nodded my head rapidly. he let me into his house, and we walked up the stairs into his bedroom. i threw my bag on his bed, and sat down. "i'm sorry for lashing out on you like that. it wasn't nice."
he sat down next to me, "it's fine. you're right though."
i furrowed my eyebrows, turning my head to face him. "i know we aren't dating, but dating is fun, you know? i just think of this as better than dating. you're my best friend, there are never any awkward moments between us, and there's never any drama that has to come with this. our parents are here for it, and we both get a kick out of this." he explains, his eyes locked with mine.
i nod my head, agreeing with his statement. "it's all fun and games until one of us catches feelings and wants it to be real." i told him.
he also nods, "then let's not worry about that." he reaches for my hand, and intertwines our fingers. "let's just focus on us."
"how can i do that?"
he sighs, running his fingers through his fluffy hair. "i don't know... um," he pauses, his thoughts racing through his mind. "let's make this a game."
"we used to play games all the time as a kid. let's make this the kind of game where, whoever admits to the other that they have feelings loses. i mean, honestly, it's bound to happen."
"get ready to lose." i smirk at him.
he smirks back, "trust me, babe. i wont."
-
i was sat on a chair, allowing the sun to tan my body. shey was doing the same thing, as sad andrea. sam and chad were having some kind of race in the water, and i was watching them.
"get in the water, ky." sam yells.
i shake my head, "no, thanks though." i smile, laughing to myself. he climbs out of the water, "please." he walks over, blocking the sun.
"um, you're blocking the sun."
"i don't care." i crosses his arms into his chest, standing his ground. i roll my eyes, "you're so annoying." i take off my sunglasses, and stand up from the chair.
he smiles, holding out his hand for me to grab. i brush past him, and walk to the pool. "aw, don't be like that." he says from behind me.
i turn around, "i want to tan."
he walks closer to me, wrapping his arms from my waist. "i want to be with you."
i roll my eyes, "shut up." he then pushes me into the water. the water was cold, and i didn't like it. i kick my feet from the bottom of the pool and swim up to the surface. as soon as my face hit the air, i gasped.
"what the fuck, sam?"
he was hunched over from laughing so hard, as was the rest of my friends. i glared at him, "that was so rude."
after about an hour, we ordered pizza and hot wings, and were sitting around my tv in my basement, watching a random tv show. "you know there's a party at michael kalowski's house tonight. can we go? he invited me."
"what time?" i ask.
"he says 9:30 is when people really show up. i wanna go, guys. i like him so much, maybe something will happen tonight." she says, hope was lighting up in her eyes.
"i'm down." i say, leaning back into sam. his arm was prompt underneath my waist, his finger was playing with the waistband of my pants.
"i'll go."
chad and andrea nod their heads, "sounds like fun. plus, it's never a party without us."
"that is true, my friend." i smirk, pointing at her. it was around 7:30, i stood up. "why don't we drink, you know before the party."
i walked into my room, and over to my dresser. i opened the bottom drawer, which was my pajama drawer, also my hidden stash of alcohol and other substances.
i grabbed a bottle of whiskey and vodka, bringing it over to the group.
-
chad decided to stay sober for the night, and to be the designated driver. we drove about 15 minutes to the house, which i may add was huge.
i stumbles out of the car, giggling at anything. my mind was hazy and i felt free. sam's hand laced with mine and he dragged me towards the house. "sam!" i squealed.
"i like being your fake girlfriend." i whispered in his ear, laughing afterwards.
he chuckles, nodding his head. "i do, too."
i wrapped my arounds around his shoulders, bringing him closer to me. he was about five or more inches taller than me, and i liked it. "you're very cute." i said in a weird voice, poking his nose.
"and you're very drunk."
i gasped, feeling offended. "i am not!" i stomped my foot, glaring at him. he chuckles again, "just a little."
"yes, a little." i nodded my head.
"wanna go inside?" he asks. i nod again, "can we dance?"
"sure."
