the mall was somewhat a hang out that everyone in our town used. we'd go shopping, eat some food and watch movies. that's usually what we did when we went to the mall.
"i wanna go watch captain marvel." shey said, chad and andrea nodded, agreeing. "me, too. i haven't seen it yet."
sam and i exchanged looks, "we saw it last week." he said sheepishly. the three of them looked at us like we were crazy. "without us? what the hell!"
i shrugged my shoulders, "you guys were busy and we were bored. i'm sorry."
"well, we're gonna go watch it. you guys do whatever." shey said, grabbing chad and andrea's hands, dragging them over to the ticket booth. sam laughed, grabbing my hand.
"where do you wanna go first?" he asked.
"let's go to forever 21. you can pick out an outfit for me." i smiled up at him. he rolled his eyes, "fine."
i cheered to myself, "yay!"
as we turned a corner, we saw karen and her two friends walking our way. i nudged sam, his eyes widened. his hand that was attached to mine, gripped harder as we were about to pass. "sam? kylie? what are you guys doing here? i thought you all had dinner reservations." karen used quotations, rolling her eyes.
"we do. i'm just grabbing a dress." i told her.
she rolled her eyes again, "why are you guys holding hands? are you dating or something?"
one of her friends snickered behind her. sam let go of my hand, "you don't hold your hands with your friends?" i asked her.
she shook her head, "no, because i'm not weird." she chuckled. i rolled my eyes this time, "okay, bye karen." i grabbed sam's wrist and we turned to walk away.
i let go of his wrist, crossing my arms. "you think she might like me?" he asks.
i look up at him, dumbfounded. "no shit, you idiot. she's obsessed with you." i almost laughed at his ignorance.
he grimaced, "she has to stop."
i nodded my head, a small chuckle escaping my lips. "she's liked you since seventh grade, you didn't know this?" i ask him.
he shook his head, "no, honestly. i just try to block her out." he says, making me laugh. "she's nice, maybe you should give her a try." i told him.
he shook his head, "no." he laughed. "i'd rather date you than her. which means that's just awful."
i furrowed my eyebrows as i looked up at him, "you think dating me would be awful?" i asked him, my arms still crossed into my chest.
he stuttered for a moment, "no- uh- i swear that's not what i meant."
i laughed, "okay." i dragged out the 'y', "whatever you say." i said in a sing song voice.
we entered the store, i walked over to the dress isle. i pulled out a black dress, "you like this?" i asked him. he shook his head, "no." i put it back, he began to look through the rack as well.
he pulled out a black and white checkered dress with spaghetti straps. "this is cute. it's your style." he said, "go try it on."
it was a tight fitted dress, but i loved it. i smiled at him, grabbing the dress out of his hands and walking into a fitting room. i quickly tried on the dress, opening the door. "do you like it?" i asked sam.
he gave a toothy grin, "buy it or i'll buy it for you. see, i have taste." he said, clearly proud of himself.
"yes, you do." i chuckled.
i closed the door, putting my original clothes on after i had taken off the dress. i put the dress back on its hanger, exiting the fitting room at once.
i took my wallet out, walking up to the cash registers. "did you find everything you were looking for?" the girl smiled, taking the dress out of the hanger. i nodded my head, "yes, thank you."
she scanned the dress, i quickly paid for it, sam and i left the store. "lets go to victoria secret."
i let out a short laugh, "why?"
he shrugged his shoulders, "why not? i like the store." i raised an eyebrow, shaking my head. "you like the bras." i corrected.
he shook his head from side to side, "no, not true. i- uh- like the perfume."
i looked at him weirdly, "you're so odd."

after about an hour and a half, we met with the rest of the gang, and decided to go to one of the restaurants that was placed in the mall. "this chicken is so good." shey moaned, closing her eyes as she takes a bite of her chicken finger.
sam kicked my leg from under the table, he was sat across from me. i give him a dirty look, "what?"
"can i sleep over?" he asked, a smile on his lips.
i roll my eyes, "i don't care." i whispered to him. he smiled harder, as if it was a victory. "why are you so happy?"
he shrugged, "we haven't hung out much lately."
