the next day i felt better, realizing it was really only a hangover. it was tuesday, and i wanted the week to end already. i sat at the lunch table, my head on sam's shoulder. "i just wanna go home." i mumble.
"we got three more hours left, then you can take your usual after school nap." he says, brushing a piece of my hair behind my ear. i roll my eyes playfully, smiling up at him. "take a nap with me. it'll make me feel better."
"already planned on it."
"can you guys stop being cute? thanks." shey says, stabbing her salad with a force, then forcefully shoving the lettuce in her mouth. i stifle my chuckle, "what's up with you, grumpy pants?"
she rolls her eyes, "i got my period. fuck you."
andrea and i burst into laughter. in our group, each of us girls have different outcomes of our period. andrea, doesn't feel any cramps, in fact she's happy on hers. whereas, i throw up and cry the entire time on mine. and, as you can see, shey, she gets angry.
she's only angry on the first day, then just slightly cranky on the next day. "sorry, girl."
she rolls her eyes again, "i don't care. i just want to go home."
i nod, "so, do i. we got one more month left." i smile at my friends.
"so, sam..." chad trails, "you gonna try out for quarterback next year?" chad asks.
i raise an eyebrow, "ooh, are you?" i ask.
he shrugs and shakes his head, "i don't know, man." he says, "i don't think im that good." he says, doubting himself.
i nudge his arm with my elbow, "i think you're that good. come on, what's the worst that can happen?" i question him.
"not get the position i tried out for?" he says in a questioning voice. "exactly!" i exclaim, "i'm just saying it's not that big of a deal if you don't get it. but, i have faith in you, i think you will." i smile at him.
"thanks."

"let's go get ice cream." sam blurts from besides me. i shake my head, "i don't want to get up." i tell him, shoving my blanket on top of my head.
he pulls it off, then puts his whole body on top of mine. "you're so heavy!" i screech loudly, attempting to push him off, but that did no justice.
"let's get ice cream!" he screams, shaking my body vigorously as he does so. i huff, "fine! get off me. jesus." i mutter, pushing him off of me successfully.
"yay! you drive." he says, grabbing my car keys from my hook and throwing them at me. i narrow my eyes at him, "i hate you." i catch the keys, and slip on a random pair of shoes.
we walk up the stairs and i see my mom in the living room watching news or something. "hi, mom. we're going to get ice cream, want us to bring you anything?" i ask her.
she smiles warmly, shaking her head. "no, sweetie. thank you. have fun."
sam and i wave goodbye and exit the house.
