The next two days passed quickly. It was early in the morning, and I was getting Sadie ready to take her back to Sacramento. Neither of us were very happy about it.

Michael would be coming with me again, but this time Marissa and Alex decided to stay behind, spending time with Ashton and Luke before the boys left to go on a small tour in about a week. They'd only found out about it the day of their last show, but they were full of excitement. This meant something. They'd managed to sell out tons of shows in San Diego and within California, but now people were starting to take more notice elsewhere. It could be their big break.

I'd been a little awkward around Michael ever since I'd picked him up from that girls' house, and part of me was really nervous to be alone with him on the drive back. I knew I had overreacted, but that didn't make it hurt any less. It still made me feel sick when I thought about him being with her, and when that happened, I started to understand how he felt about me being with Calum, about knowing what I'd done with Calum.

Michael still didn't know that Calum had been sleeping with Megan, and I hated that Calum hadn't told him, but I knew I couldn't be the one to break the news. I think that would've been something that could've ruined their friendship. Nobody really understood why, but Michael loved Megan. He probably still did.

It was almost eight o'clock when there was knocking on my apartment door, and Sadie ran for it like she always did when Michael was coming over. She was sad to be leaving, but she was also excited that Michael would be taking the trip with us. I think she was going to miss him just as much as she missed me.

When he walked in the front door, he was dressed in his typical black skinny jeans and a ripped Metallica t-shirt, a beanie covering his faded purple hair. He looked exhausted, but he had a smile on his face.

"Hey, Sadie. You ready to get going?" He asked, kneeling down so that he was able to make eye contact with my little sister. She shook her head, sticking out her bottom lip in a pout.

"No way. I want to stay here with you and Ronnie and learn how to be punk rock." Michael chuckled and picked Sadie up, carrying her towards her room.

"I can still teach you to be punk rock when you're in Sacramento. You have an iPod, right? Me and your sister will FaceTime you all the time. I'll FaceTime you all the time, kiddo. And we'll see you soon." I followed them into her room, where Michael placed her on the bed. He looked around the room and laughed; we hadn't gotten any of Sadie's packing done.

"As you can see, my sister and I are both amazing at procrastinating." I said quietly, a ghost of a smile on my lips. I was tired; I hadn't been sleeping much, too much going through my mind at night. I needed to work on my sleeping pattern; now that Sadie was going home, I'd be going back to work.

"I can see that." Michael sat down on the floor beside Sadie's bed, pulling her purple suitcase towards him. "Lucky for you both, I am a master at packing. Let's get this done and go get breakfast."

Despite Michael's claims that he was the king of packing, it took us hours. Sadie kept claiming we didn't have everything, that Michael had folded things wrong, that she should leave some things here for when she came back, but no Michael, not that, that's my favourite shirt! Between that, having to get ready myself, and having to stop for breakfast, it was almost noon before the time we made it onto the interstate.

I sighed, looking out the window. We were going to arrive in Sacramento later than I planned, which meant we'd be driving back later than I planned. There was no way we could drive the entire way there without any stops, especially with Sadie in the car, and I knew we wouldn't be able to leave right after dropping her off. I had to stay with her for a while, I had to visit with my aunt, I had to explain why Sadie's fucking hair was purple. And I knew Michael's explanation wouldn't go over well with my strict aunt. I was terrified to see how she would react.
