Wind whipped my face with such force that I was sure I would get wind burn. Trees flew past so fast that I barely recognised my surroundings. All I had in mind was to run as fast as I could, straight ahead and not die. I jumped over rock and tree stump, not missing one beat, working my reflexes overdrive. My lungs burned but I still pushed myself to go faster. I let out fast pants, running with more speed than any regular human, in a world with the word McDonalds, could ever achieve. My strides were long, my pants were sharp and well timed and so were my strikes of my arms as they moved rapidly back and forth. This was how I had been trained. This was easy. Well usually it was easy. This time was slightly different.
This time I didn't have back up and I most definitely didn't have a fair battle. Four against one, seriously? It was going to be tough but the idea was forming in my brain like a jigsaw puzzle, slowly putting pieces together. My mind had been taught to work like a machine, kill and don't overthink. Just do and worry about the consequence later. Sharp reflexes, always have a plan. The simple stuff.
I could hear heavy footsteps behind me as they got closer. There were definitely four of them. I could tell by the amount of footsteps that plodded on the ground as they ran. I knew they would catch up of course. They did have four legs unlike mine. But I knew I could run for a little longer, giving enough time for me to really put my plan into action. All within my mind of course.
It happened sooner than I had hoped. One of them jumped out, their jaws wrapping around my leg and pulling me down. I let out a howl as its teeth sunk into my flesh. I really should have calculated better than that. Oh well, now I'll just have to deal with the consequence.
The beast was on top of me now, its huge paws pushing me down hard on the ground. It was impossible to move, unless you're me of course. Nothing holds me down. With a kick of my leg, I pushed one of its back legs, making it stumble slightly before I flicked around from my stomach and onto my back. It recovered quickly but not quick enough as I pulled the gun from my shorts and aimed for the forehead. A loud blast echoed through the trees and the animal on top of me slumped onto my body. A real pain since it was heavy.
I slid my body out from under the fur ball and dusted off my hands. I quickly examined my leg which was currently bleeding. However no time to waste on that, the next one had arrived. And when it saw its fallen pack mate, it was not happy.
It flew at me with a faster speed than I interpreted, knocking me once more off my feet. Good one. I really wasn't up to date this morning. I delivered some blows to the animal's stomach making it wince and giving me long enough to struggle free. This one was an amateur, easy to kill. It was also smaller than the others. It was young and its moves unexperienced.
It came for me once more but I delivered a kick to its face before jumping on top of it. It was like a bull the way it bucked its legs.
"I ride horses you feral mutt." I rolled my eyes. This pissed it off even more. But before it could really do anything, I snapped its neck and it too died.
This time the other two caught up. Two down, two to go. These two were older and bigger too. The way they attacked me together as if they knew each other's thoughts I knew straight away. They were mates. Soul mates, nothing without the other. Pathetic. I would never be so dependant in a man.
"Why don't we settle this fairly?" I ask them both but they didn't even register my words as they surrounded me.
"It's rude to not answer people when they speak to you." I say frustrated.
One of them growled at me, probably the female since it was slightly smaller.
"Didn't your parents ever tell you to be kind to strangers?" I shook my head disapprovingly before smiling. "I don't know about you but mine taught me to kill werewolves."
And with that, I had pulled the two samurai swords, made of pure silver, from the brace behind my back. They both flew at me and I slashed out my swords at the same time, trying to fight them both at once. I'll be honest, it wasn't easy. These two were more experienced and they had each other. One of the swords was knocked from my hand and I cussed under my breath as the male flew at me. I elbowed him in the head as hard as I could. He flew to the ground but my attention was then on the female as she attacked. She had caught me off guard as her claws slashed my arm and I let out a cry of fury before slicing the sword across her flank. She let out a cry of pain before she was back on me. We continued our little back and forth fight until she had knocked the sword from my hand. It was ok though as I pulled the two knives from my boots and began to slash at her face.
But she somehow outsmarted me, standing on her hind legs before pushing with her forelegs so that I fell hard, my back hitting a tree. She pinned me down there before her teeth sunk into my shoulder. I screamed as tears pricked my eyes. It seemed like she was really taking a chunk out of my shoulder because she took a long time until she finally lifted her head. Her amber eyes looked deeply into mine, her silver fur sparkling in the sunlight and blood dripping down her jaw.
"Hey bitch, did anyone ever tell you, no one likes female dogs?" I smirked before lifting up my uninjured arm and throwing my knife. When it hit its target she froze, letting out a wince. Slowly, her head turned before she let out a cry at the sight of her dead mate, lying across the floor with a dagger in his chest. She rushed over to him, changing back to her human form faster than I had ever seen as she burst into tears. This girl had long, curly red hair and she was quite beautiful. Shame she was a monster.
She let out a pained wail as she reached for her dead mate. Now she would be forever empty, forever without her other half. There would always be a part of her missing. Not that I cared.
Speaking of myself, I should probably get out of here. Well I tried but as soon as she heard me move, she was standing, looking at me in fury. In two long strides, she was in front of me and the blow to the face was only registered once I was on the ground. She now had me straddled as she delivered punch after punch to the face. My sight began to cloud and the pain in my face hurt more than I'de like to admit. When she finally stopped, it was only to spit on my face.
"You will all burn in hell." She said with so much hate it almost scared me. Just kidding. Nothing scares me.
"Boohoo." I fake cried and she growled.
"You're lucky you are living another day hunter."
"You're lucky I haven't killed you yet."
"You and what weapon?" She hissed and I realised she was right. I was out of weapons.
"One day you'll get what's coming for you werewolf."
