The lights blared like a heart beat, going on and off as the warning sounds surrounded Brandon from everywhere. He quickly looked around at his fellow works evacuating but something didn't let his feet move.
It was until the building started to crumble that he finally moved his feet, pushing himself as far as he could go. The red lights shone on the rims of his glasses as he quickly caught his breath letting out low pants.
He let himself take a couple more breaths before he began running again. He saw some of his co-workers running ahead of him into a stairwell as the walls began to shake vigorously.
He looked at the elevator that was not so far from him and the distance between him and the stairwell. He knew of course he couldn't trust taking the elevator but the stairwell was all the way across the hall. He was unsure he'd make it.
The ground underneath him began to shake harder and it made him unstable. The sounds of the blaring were barely heard at this point because of the sounds of the building falling apart.
He kept running and finally the last of his associates that he'd spoken to over the years rushed to the steps.
He was still too far.
He screamed until his throat burned and swelled, "WAIIIIIIIT!" He shouted as loud as he can before waiting, but nobody came back for him. "please..." he said in a whisper as tears brimmed in his eyes.
He couldn't focus on that anymore because there were cracks in the walls and all throughout the ceiling. Dust began to fall from the ceiling as it covered him but he didn't stop running.
He got closer and closer, ignoring the loud sounds of the alarm and finally reaching the door to the stairs. Little did he know the ceiling right above him had began chipping more and more.
Brandon let out a final breath, resting the palm of his hand on the handle of the stairs before the piece of ceiling collapsed on him and he was knocked out unconscious...
OMNISCIENT
She was tending to the children of her village when it happened.
It was a bright sunny day and it was so hot. One of the kids, a younger boy was awfully distracted and wouldn't stop fidgeting around.
She continued reading as she heard distant screams. She quickly turned around to the millions of people running around screaming their heads off.
Her heart raced quickly as she grabbed as many kids as she could, shouting for them to come with her and leading them to their parents who sobbed with worry as they tightly clutched their children to their chests.
She looked to her left to see a woman hysterically wailing with her knees planted on the ground. She thought this hysteria was just because of the fatal events happening but when she turned the little boy that had been fidgeting found himself right in the middle of the mess.
The woman was still wailing behind her in horror as the boy stared at the eruptions and the people running that got fewer as they took cover. And he waited, he waited for it to go away, he waited to wake up.
But nobody told him it wasn't a dream and that by now he'd been wide awake.
She took a deep breathe as she looked at her parents running towards her, yelling in their language for her to come to them. She braced herself before she ran at the boy with force. The dust flew into her eyes as she ran faster and faster and pushed her feet harder into the ground.
Finally she grabbed the boy awake from his day dream before he too began to cry. She held him tightly in her arms before running back as fast as she could. She lay him down next to his mother as they cried together at the reunion.
She rushed them to go as the woman thanked me a million times. She turned around to look at the chaotic mess happening wondering how happened. Her parents were no longer calling her in their language.
They were no where to be found...
Nobody was. She was all alone.
She watched as explosions neared her and circled around her as her eyes filled with tears knowing that this, this would be the end of her world, her family, her friends, the only home she'd ever known and she'd be losing it all..
Alone.
"MOM!!!DAD!!!!!ANYONE!!!!" The isolated alien called out as the tears fled quickly from her trying to escape her sadness just like her.
She let the hot air pass my face and she no longer felt bothered by the dust or the explosions. If this is how it had to be then that's how it'd be.
In the distance she noticed a blinding light, it looked like a sort of orange flame coming from somewhere. But it was unlike the others, it was more unusual. It had a pointed top and the bottom was rounded and then squared off. She'd never seen anything like it.
She began walking closer to the strange object with caution, scared that it might jump at her or attack at any moment. She snarled at it but the thing didn't respond to her. It must be shy she thought as she walked closer and closer to it.
Finally the flame died out and there was smoke. She traveled to the front of the thing as she noticed a small door. Opening it slowly, she climbed inside of it as she closed her eyes and the energy that spiraled from her chest as it glowed into a white substance on her hands.
Reaching down curiously and touching one of the buttons as the whole thing became illuminated with multiple colorful lights. She moved back as her back pressed into something that sent her back as well as started the odd thing.
It hummed until it powered on and she started to get scared. She pulled on the door of the thing as she couldn't get out, "LET GO OF ME YOU CREATURE!" She screamed as she banged on the door of it.
The rocket instead jolted forwards pulling her body back as it flew her away from her planet. She tried not to cry but she couldn't help but think about how she'd left her home planet.
She looked down at the machine that read in a foreign language "Blast off. Back to planet Earth. NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies."
And then she was gone.
