A life for a life

*Kaden's P.O.V*

I burst into the head office of the corporation seeing Damon and Bella being held by my mother as Jasmine stood by her side blank-faced and proposed in a strict manner, I started yelling as soon as she pulled out a pill to give to both the kids, and knowing her, it was probably to kill them "STOP!"

My mother turned to look at me smiling "Kaden, darling, you are right on time!"

I glared at her "You are not hurting them!"

"Oh but you see I am," She said putting the sleeping kids down along with the pills and stepping close to a panel with so many other buttons. "And you can't stop me, no one can."

I tried to dive in to grab Damon and Bella but as soon as she did, she pressed a button on the panel, and then I couldn't move I was stuck in place, she must have fixed the chip. As soon as I thought it was all over Kat, Isabel, and Abie came bursting in their faces swollen red, it looked as though they had been crying. 

"Give me back the kids or I'll shoot," Kat said pointing her gun at my mom trembling. "You don't have the right to take any more lives than you already have especially these kids!"

I started moving towards my mother to shield her, I tried to stop myself, but, it was inevitable with the chip "You'll have to shoot me then this is my mom, Let her kill them they are an abomination."

Trying to suppress the tears Kat pointed the gun at me "Your mom? Are you kidding me?! This is why you've been such a douchebag so all that stuff you said about you leaving to protect Damon and I. It was all just a lie, wasn't it? You manipulated me because you knew I loved you, you knew you had a power over me and you used it to your advantage so you could kill us and for what? Well, I'm done! It's time that I do something for myself just for once!"

"You don't mean that," I replied. I just wanted to tell her, this wasn't me, that I meant everything I did back then to protect them, and even now, I was doing my best just to protect them, but fighting over the control was inevitable for me, I was doing my best just to save them  "Just---Please...Get Damon."

Okay, so Kaden's mom, I don't like you not a bit, get away from my child, and Kaden well honestly what more can I say, I knew it from the start that you'd do something like this, so how dare you to say Get Damon when you're protecting the lady trying to kill him," Isabel said. "To be honest, I don't care about this dumb cult of yours anymore, and the last straw was when you killed Mason, so bye!"

Isabel shot at my mom but she simply dodged the bullet "Good luck but you are gonna have to do better than that."

The room turned to chaos, bullets flew all around the room. I ran to the control panel as everyone was distracted, what could I use to destroy it? I found a glass of water and poured it all over, and just for precaution I took a gun and shot it. It started spewing sparks, and the lights when off completely. For just a moment everything turned to silence until it was broken by Jasmine "Where am I?"

I tried to adjust my eyes to the darkness, I could see my mom trying to escape with the 2 babies, she'd lost it. I pointed the gun at her "Let them go. Don't make me do this."

She paused and turned to look at me nervously "Kaden...Honey, don't do it."

"Everyone else here, only worked for you and dad because you were controlling them, now who's going to save you? Everyone hates you, including me," I said.

"Ho-How did you bypass the coding we encrypted on your chip?"

"There's something much stronger than your mind control. It's the love I had that made me fight because when you love something you fight with all your strength. You just don't have that mom, you never had," I said sending a shot that hit her leg. 

She screamed in agony as she fell to the ground, Kat rushed to Damon and Isabel grabbed Bella.

"You think you've won Kaden? Well, if I can't get rid of the baby, I'll get rid of you," My mom said.
I felt a sharp pain shoot through my chest, it was bound to happen. I lay on the floor feeling myself succumb to the wound. 

Kat ran to my side, she felt the pain of her shattered heart, as tears streamed down her face. Abie distracted Damon to keep him from seeing what was happening. Kat took my hand "I'm sorry I said those things, I should've trusted you. Please don't leave me, Please not you too. We've lost too many people. I love you so much Kaden, and I'm never gonna stop, it's always gonna be you. Damon needs you...I need you, I can't spend another second without you it hurts too much. Please, please, please just don't leave me!"

I reached for her face gently wiping the tears away "You know it's not up to me. Whatever happens to me, it's just the way it's supposed to be. I'll tell you though Kat, you never needed me and you don't need me now, in fact, the only person you've ever needed is yourself and now Damon needs you too, so don't worry about me, I wasn't meant to stay, but you are, so take care of him and yourself. Let me go, I was never meant to be in your life forever, it just wasn't meant for us in the end, you'll learn to live without me because if you could live without me before you knew me, you can live without me now and forevermore, you will continue to breathe. I love you too---"

I felt my eyes shut, and then there I was located in a bright room. I might have been dead, but I couldn't quite tell, a tall broad-shouldered man with chestnut colored hair and brown eyes, the thing that stood out the most was by far his big silver glimmering wings. 

He walked over to me greeting me with a bright smile "Hello Kaden, welcome to the afterlife," He reached out his hand for me to shake, I took it "I'm Lucien. Kat's guardian angel, I'm giving you a choice, a life for a life, kind of thing. You can live on and grow old with Kat."

"What's the other thing?"

"Or...You trade your life for Mason to come back. The only reason I am doing this is if I don't Kat will probably suffer her heartstrings breaking from losing too many people, and also I don't want to hear her cry anymore, it's all I'm gonna be hearing because it's my job to watch over her and it's not fun to hear someone crying all the time," Lucien said. 

I sighed "Well, there's more people that are mourning over Mason, so him? I don't know."

"So you're saying you don't want to spend the rest of your life with Kat?" Lucien questioned glaring at me.

Rolling my eyes, I glared at him "Stop putting words into my mouth, that I didn't say. I'm just saying she doesn't need me, it's time to let go of what once was. Being with me, it only ever ends up breaking her heart, you would know, right? You watch over her. I love her, but she's just fine without me. So my answer is Mason, let him live the life that he deserves to have, my fun is done, I'm content with this."

He smiled at me "Bummer, you were a douchebag sometimes anyways. But I get it, she is much happier on her own, she's never crying, so that's great for me, cause I never know how to fix all the broken hearts you've caused her, not my thing. Anyways, since you've picked Mason, he'll be up at any moment, and you just have to go follow that white light to get to Heaven. Good luck."

 "Well thanks," I said. "You better take care of her, don't let her get hurt."

"Hey, don't accuse me of being a bad guardian angel, at least I didn't let Kat get shot like your guardian angel let you got shot. Kat's never gonna get hurt with me as her guardian angel, well until it's her time to go. Now go Kaden, get to heaven," Lucien said.
