Louis gently pushed Bella against the counter as he kissed her long and hard, yet simple enough for both of them to know that it wasn't going to lead to anything else. Her lips felt perfect against his as they moved their lips slowly against one another.
He gently moved his hand up to her cheek, rubbing his thumb along her cheek bone as she moved her hands to behind his next, interlacing her fingers.
And as quickly as it started, Louis pulled away from her, keeping his eyes closed. He was afraid that if he opened them she would suddenly disappear, and it would have been like the kiss never happened.
When he finally decided to open them, he saw her staring straight into his own, staring so intently he feared she could read his thoughts. Her mouth was barely open, quiet breaths escaping from her small lips.
Louis didn't know what to say, let alone what to do. He just stood there with his heart beating erratically against his chest and his eyes watching her every movement, fearing she was soon going to turn away from him and run.
When she finally broke eye contact with him, she blinked rapidly and took one step away from him. Louis wanted so desperately to reach out and grab her, to prevent her from getting any further from him, but nothing in his body seemed to be listening, let alone functioning.
His body shook in fear. The only thing he could think of right now was that he did the wrong thing at the wrong time and now she's never going to want to see him again. He could have just lost the best thing that's happened to him in his years in college just because he couldn't control his drunken self. Yes, he wanted to kiss her, but he wanted it to be when he was sober and he was absolutely positive it was what she wanted.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when Bella finally looked back up to him, licking her lips. She breathed in heavily before speaking with a small smile on her lips. "You know, you really taste like alcohol."
Louis wanted to smile at that, he really did. He wanted to smile because even at the most awkward time between the two she could still manage to make a joke. But he couldn't, he still didn't know where he stood with her.
He swallowed heavily, looking down at his feet. "I am... or I, uh..." He looked back up to meet her gaze, shoving his hands in his pockets. "Is that a good or bad thing?"
She shrugged before grabbing his wrists and pulling his hands out of his pockets and placing them on her hips. Her hands cupped his face like he had done moments before to her. "You tell me," she whispered and then gently connected their lips once again.
It was a small peck, one that they couldn't really enjoy but Louis still did nonetheless. He was still frozen in his place however, his hands stuck on her hips as he looked down at her. A fire had ignited inside of him when she whispered in his ear, and now the only thing he could think about was his lips on hers.
"It's a good thing," Louis finally found the courage to say, a small smile tugging on his lips.
Bella nodded, also smiling, and wrapped her arms around his waist, pulling him into a hug. Louis responded by wrapping his arms around her shoulders, protectively holding her as he pressed a soft kiss to her hair.
"You know I've wanted to do that for quite some time now," Louis whispered.
Bella only hummed in response, squeezing Louis' torso tighter.
They stayed like that for a while, just holding each other close and enjoying each other's presence.
"Me too," she finally spoke. And it took Louis a moment to realize what she meant, but as soon as he did he smiled widely and kissed her lips once more.
[A/N; This is so short.
