A Love Unexpected

“Sorry about what? Im sorry... I’m confused?”

He handed her the envelope and slowly turned to walk away.

"This has to be a mistake."

He yelled back.

"Mrs. Connick right?"

"Yes."
"It's for you..."

He got in his car and left. She turned closing the door with her hands shaking, she opened the letter. 

Mrs. Connick,

    This is to notify you that your Husband, Harry Connick Jr. is pronounced dead. He died this morning at 8:45 am from a gunshot wound, and an explosion that occurred yesterday afternoon. Along with others he will rest in peace. We are so very sorry to tell you. A service will privately been given to him and only with your permission will those be allowed in. His body will be flown in tonight. Somebody will contact you when they have him. Again we are so truthfully sorry and we wish our condolences to you and the Connick Family.

Jennifer fell to the ground yelling, crying, screaming.

“NO! WHY! Why.. why...why..why….”

“JENNIFER?!”

She was holding her shoulders crying aloud. Leah was running over. Eliana picked up the letter and showed everybody.

“Shh, baby it’s okay, it’s okay, it’ll all be alright.”

“He was my everything….*crying gasping for air* he was going to be with me forever, Leah was going to be him and I, why?”

“I don’t know Jennifer. *she started to ache for Jen* I don’t know, god works his mysterious ways.”

Jennifer calmed a bit still sobbing.

“Leah I can’t live without him…”

That day Jennifer lost her soulmate. She walked with a black hole in her heart. That night she stayed up crying, throwing everything around in the room, angry, and upset. Leah and Lupe stayed with her trying to keep her calm.

“Baby, you have let go…”

“Mom I CAN”T! IT”S NOT THAT EASY! YOU DON’T GET IT.”

“Jennifer…”

“Go ma! Just get out!”

Jennifer went into the bathroom locking the door. She opened the cabinet to find Harry’s sleeping pills. She opened the bottle pouring them into her hand. Leah came walking in and noticed the door was locked.

“Jennifer?”
“Leave me alone.”

“Girl open the door.”
“No.”

“Why not.”
“Because, I don’t deserve to live.”

“Jennifer what are you doing in there.”
“Leah, this is the only way.”
“JENNIFER!”
“ANGELO.”

Angelo ran in busting the door down. Leah grabbed the bottle and pills smacking them out of her hand as Angelo pulled Jen out of the bathroom. She slowly fell down with him as he held on tight.

“Jennifer shh…”

“I wanna die, too.”

“No you don’t. It’s the pain..you have to fight it Jennifer, it’s not easy but you have to be strong...for Harry.”

“I can’t..I just can’t”

She just laid in Angelo’s arms crying. Morning came and the phone rang for Jennifer.
