•GRAYSON•
"Um, I'm Hanna." The beautiful girl awkwardly introduces herself.
"Grayson." I barely get the word out due to how low my voice is.
Holy shit, Hanna is right in front of me. My heart is beating so fucking fast, I may as well go to the ER now. She's even more gorgeous up close. Her eyes are the perfect tint of hazel and compliment her blonde hair very well. The beauty mark on her cheek is adorable, and reminds me of the one I have on my chin.
God, she's so perfect. My secret messages with her are about to come crashing down because her eyes never leave my face.
"I'm sorry, but you're related to Ethan?" The question falls out of her mouth.
Fuck, my anxiety is skyrocketing right now. I gulp and turn my body to face her. "Uh, yeah that's my brother."
"Brother?" Her eyes widen.
"Twin brother." I quickly add, which is way more awkward.
Confusion is written all over her face, as expected. This is all my fault. My stupid anxiety and poor decisions got me into this situation with Hanna.
"Ethan never told me he had a twin brother." She says with a shocked expression.
I'm at a complete loss of words, and so is she. We are both sitting here as nervous as ever. I don't know what to do, should I play it cool? Should I act like I have no idea who she is?
"Oh, you know him?" I nervously speak. I guess we'll go with this for now.
"Yeah, has he not mentioned me before?" Sadness washes over her pretty features at the thought of my brother being an asshole.
"Oh, uhhh." As if on cue, my hands begin to shake. "He mentioned a girl, I just didn't know her name." I quickly get the words out. I don't want to look at her sad face anymore, I want her to be happy. God, what am I doing?
"I wish I knew about you, I'm so sorry if I'm coming off rude." She says after a moment.
"No, uh, it's all right." I slowly speak.
"You've been in this class all semester?" Hanna blinks a few times, trying to process this fucked up situation.
"Yes." I nod.
"Well, it's nice to meet you." She tries to recover from this awkward encounter.
"You too." I say while looking down at the desk. I feel like I can't even make eye contact with her anymore. Ethan is going to freak out when I tell him that I officially met my dream girl.
"So, the assignment." She clears her throat while continuing to stare at me. She probably thinks I'm uglier than Ethan and a total loser. I mean, look at me. I'm fucking sweating from how nervous I am.
"What's your favorite novel?" I choke out, already knowing the answer.
"The Great Gatsby. It's what I'm going to write about for the assignment. What's yours?" She furrows her eyebrows.
I need to play this smart. If I say Catcher in the Rye, she's going to be suspicious. I need to continue this already huge lie, which I hate doing.
"Uh, well, Ethan loves Catcher in the Rye so I read his copy a few times. I would say that's my favorite." I quickly mumble, hoping she won't even hear me.
"This is so crazy."
"What is?" I finally have the courage to make eye contact with her.
"That you're real." She blurts out.
