I leaned on the hood of my car, waiting for Nico. He lived so far from me, I'd be a pain in the ass to walk over. Even though I did say to be there at 4.The pale boy caught my eye as he walked amongst a crowd of more kids.
"Hey! Nico!" He looked up at me and stopped in his tracks before walking towards me.
"I figured since you live so far, I could just give you a ride to my house."
"No. I'm going to shower when I get home." He kept his gaze on the floor.
"You can shower at my house. It will be like a 2-hour walk, it would be better if I gave you a ride." I insisted, but once again, he denied.
"I don't have any clothes with me." He began playing with his fingers.
"Nico, you can wear something of mine."
"Why the fuck are you trying to be nice to me!" He shouted at me, finally making eye contact with me.
"I- I'm sorry for how we've treated you, Nico." He scoffed and began walking away.
"I'll buy you McDonald's." This caused him to come to a complete stop.
"What..?" He seemed off now.
"I will buy you McDonald's," I repeated.
"How do you- how do you know I like McDonald's?" He asked, turning around to face me.
"I've seen you in there, multiple times." I rubbed my neck, realizing I sounded like a stalker.
"Okay." He began walking towards me.
"Will!" It was Brittney. I let out a sigh of frustration as she latched her arms around me.
"We broke up. Get off of me." I slightly pushed her off.
"Are you fucking serious! It was just a fight! Will! You can't be fucking serious right now!" Nico brought his gaze off of the floor and onto her.
"What the fuck are you looking at? Freak!" She yelled insults at him.
"Fucking leave him alone! Just fuck off!" I screamed at her to which she hung her mouth wide open.
"You're going to defend him! What is your problem!?" She began hitting my chest, shoving me.
"Let's go, Nico." I opened the door for him and closed it once he got in.
"Oh, I see. You left me for your little boyfriend there huh?" She smirked as I rolled my eyes.
"I'm not gay Brittney, but I'd chose him over you any day," I smirked as I watched her face light up in anger.
I jumped into my car, locking the doors before laughing at the tantrum she was throwing.
"Sorry about that." My laughter died down as I watched him. He fiddled with his fingers, not looking up nor saying anything.
I started the car and began driving towards McDonald's. Once in the drive-thru, I looked over to Nico.
"What would you like?"
"A happy meal, please." He whispered, still not looking up.
I snickered, thinking he was joking. He looked up at me, making eye contact.
"Oh, you're serious. S- Sorry." I held in my laughter and ordered for him.
"$4." The lady at the window said.
I paid and handed Nico the little box. His entire face light up, no smile though.
"Thank you." He whispered again.
"You look like you're going to burst of happiness." I chuckled a bit, admiring him. He quickly dug into the food and began eating like he hadn't eaten in days.
"Are you properly eating? 3 meals a day. Especially breakfast." I questioned him, but he just ignored me. I smiled either way and began driving home.
"Well, this is it." We sat in my car, on my driveway before exiting the car.
I unlocked the door, letting Nico in first. He stared in shock at my house.
"I know. We live like a stereotypical rich, white family and I don't mean to sound spoiled, but I don't really like it. It's too big and it creeps me out at night." I chuckled as I rambled on.
"Here, I'll show you to my bathroom so you can shower." I headed upstairs and led him into my room.
"You play guitar..?" Was the first thing he said as he stared at the guitar in the corner of my room.
"Oh- uh- yeah. No one's ever heard me play though." I rubbed the back of my neck.
"Why not?" I hesitated for a minute causing him to apologize.
"Sorry.. Forget I asked- hold on- is that a signed Black Veil Brides poster!?" He seemed ready to burst with joy, even more than he had been with the happy meal. He looked as if he wanted to smile, but didn't.
"Oh. That. Yeah! I got it at their concert." I chuckled at his reaction.
"You don't look like someone who listens to "emo" music." He commented.
"Yeah, I know." I smiled.
"Oh. My bathroom is right here." I pointed to the door in the corner and handed him a clean new towel.
"Thanks.." He walked into the bathroom, locking the door behind him.
While Nico showered, I changed into a tank top and shorts and laid in bed. Half an hour passed when the water finally shut off. A few seconds go by before he opened the door.
There stood the same pale boy from earlier, but with a towel wrapped around his waist and his hair dripping wet onto his chest. He noticed me staring, causing us both to turn red.
"Sorry... I left you some clothes on top of the dresser." I told him, dropping my gaze.
"Can you- can you bring me it..?" He whispered. I chuckled before nodding my head.
"Nah. Come get it," I smirked at him.
"Will." He said, but I stayed silent, smirking.
"Fine. Close your eyes then..."
"Why?" I was confused. He had a towel. "I'm not going to hurt you, Nico," I added. He sighed before taking a step outside of the bathroom. Then another, and another. But he wasn't walking normally.. he had his back towards the wall, walking and watching me.
"Nico. What's wrong?" I stood up.
"No! Stop. Stay there." He began shaking, causing me to go over to him.
"Are you okay?" I questioned him.
"Please. Stay back." He pushed himself back onto the wall as if hiding something.
"Nico. Turn around." I ordered him. He shook his head, almost crying.
"Nico. Turn around. Please." I said a bit sternly this time. He made eye contact with me, dropping a tear, before turning around. I gasped out loud once I saw the horror that was his back. His entire back was covered in huge red, bright, new scars. They looked to be made from a wire or whip of some sort.
"What happened!?" I turned him around, looking into his eyes. More tears fell from his eyes.
"It's okay Nico. You're safe with me." I pulled him into a hug, being careful not to hurt him.
